Question about brake conversions
I found on craigslist a full set of brakes and rotors from a 2002 Porsche Boxster S. I have an early 1985 944 and was wondering how easy or difficult it would be to do a nice reasonable brembo brake conversion on my car. Any thoughts on this? Here's the ad: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/pts/2247721001.html do you think this is a fair price for these?

The radial mounting bolt hole centers are 130mm and the front calipers take a 318 x 28 rotor that is 67mm offset. The early NA hub bolts a rotor to the back, so if you keep those you'll have to build rotor hats. The rear Boster S calipers will fit an 86T rotor perfectly if you build an adapter for them.

I did a 86T brake conversion on my '86 NA and it came out around $800 - 1000 for '86T calipers x 4, front spindles/hubs/rotors, rear rotors and the front strut assemblies. All parts were used. I track the car but these brakes are overkill for a NA 944.
If that option doesn't work for you, you can always do this: Rennbay Big Brake Kit

ah ok well thanks for that. As far as brakes go, where do you think i should look? Should i look at kits that are specific to my car, like parts off of lindsey racing?

What is it about your current brakes you wish to improve upon? Feel? Heat/Fade resistance? "bling" factor?
Do you track your car? Dropped in an LS1 conversion?
Sometimes putting in fresh, high temp fluid and more aggressive brake pad compounds can do a world of improvement. Also consider that since your brakes are only as good as your tires.. how's the rubber that touches the road?

What are the part#'s on your 15" phone dials. I heard that 15" phonies with 951#s were rare but fit the turbo brakes. I have a spare set of 15" ET52 wheels tires that I was going to try on my Wilwood NA kit with the same 298mm rotors, but 32mm thick.

I was pleasantly surprised when I tried them out, after the brake upgrade, and they actually cleared the calipers without any issues. No spacers either.
I am using 2 sets of them for the track.

yea i plan to eventually do an LS1 swap, but for now bigger brakes are nicer just because the bigger, red brembos look better under the wheels. V2, what is the strut/spindle/hub/brake setup? and how much does that cost?
