Dude, get a clue. As 931GT said, there are plenty of real reasons to dis the 924/931, but you don't even know what you don't know.

the '70s cars didn't get the galvanite dipping and rusted real bad. a neighbor had a 928. he was also an influence, but that rust..... that was one of the things that really turned me off about them back in the day.

i learned tonight my first car actually shares a lot of tech with the first 924s. after having a lot of expience with a 1974 version of this same engine, i may have actually unfairly criticized the 924 cars the past few months. i'm still not completely sure why all the new england cars fell apart during the '80s and disappeared.... but, i can see where you all might become big fans of the 924... if you have access to one in this kind of condition and you like it, who the hell am i to talk bad about it.

mine was maroon w/ all options including a tach.

I still love those wheels, and they even dress up a 924, nice!

They come with the S package. Konis, four wheel discs, bigger front sway bar, rear sway bar, and the the 931-specific 16x6 flat dish wheels. there's even an oh-so-80's hood decal for it:

on last and final point. if you can do a pre-1983, 924 restoration for cheap money, could this be due to the car actually being just an old VW sportscar with just a slightly larger, Audi 100 engine?

Really? It's obviously not an late 924. If you can't even tell the difference from a 931 from an original 924... plain and simple, stfu. Haha.

this is the photo he put up. late wheels, and you can't see the hood duct.

fairly easy for a casual observer to misidentify as an '86~'88.

+ 1 _pretty accurate discription of the S package but the grey one don't have the hood decal.Friend of mine has an S package one, took him over 4 years on & off to revive it but turn out beautiful. It's been in storage for 2 years now doesn't have time to drive it.And lol if you don't like the Turbo you can always roll up your sleeves & turn it into something like this, may we call it a "931 S2" a real sleeper!!!

a euro 931 is a sexy car. the american bumpers and side markers really diluted it.

931 (europe):

i still dont mind the american look:

Sure, you can't. Though with over seven thousand post (I'd say your more than a "casual observer"), surely you'd think you would noticed the vented nose panel, vented valence, the early plated 928 wheels and side decals which were options for the 931. Oh, not to mention the most noticeable part which is the plastic moulding running down the sides underneath the doors. That's a dead give away it's an early model. But high five odurandina, high five.

The gray car is a brochure car, and the options don't always align with production. I have the window sticker and it doesn't list the decal separately. The car was 21 grand new!
