Default New 944 owner checking in.

Hi! I bought my first 944 over the weekend. It's an 86 with the M456 sport suspension, M220 LSD, and M383/387 Sport Seats. I plan on autocrossing it with the PCA. Anyways, I just wanted to check in and say hi.

Make sure timing belt and water pump history meet our requirements! 3yrs on belts, 60K or 6 years on water pumps!

Belts and water pump were done 7K miles and 2 years ago at a Porsche specialty shop. According to the PPI it just needs a ball joint, a vacuum hose, and has a drip from the transaxle.

Welcome.

Ah I remember when I got my '86 that only needed a 'slave cylinder' and some guage work. That was 5 months ago....so far:

refinish wheels
turbo nose
turbo sways
power sterring to manual
power sunroof to manual (former owner had sealed with silcone)
shaved bumpers
box rockers
reworked clutch
swapping out interior
still playing with a fiberglass hatch build
etc etc etc.....

But it will all be worth it, at least, that's what the voices in my head keep telling me late at night.

They are addicting cars, again welcome to the support group.

Was 16 years old when I seen my first XKE & fell in love with the car,and I agree they are one of the most sexy car out there to look at even today ,before I bougth my 944 found one with a 351 Ford in it, but what I really wanted was one with a 350 Chev & have the best of both world ,so I drop the deal.Wish I would have buy it, can't find them anymore & if you do they bring premium fee.

premium fee? insane $$$$ is more like it. by the time you get the car, there's only money left for a V8 Chevy swap. if you stay with the stock engine, you're better off modern ignition and carburation, a second mortgage on your house for the actual engine build.

there's a few sbc, and LSx XKE's out there. the finished products are pretty good.
