Post Some people just make me angry

I've waited an entire year so I could be part of the club and fellow Porsche owners wouldn't regard me as some lunatic with a dream ;-)

Well, I was out just driving around today when I spotted an S2 cab on the road. It just so happened he was leaving the highway, so I followed his tracks and wound up beside him at the light.

This guy obviously just drove the car because it has a Porsche emblem on the outside.

Him: So is that a 4-cylinder?
Me: Yes
Him: Yeah, this is a six-cylinder.
Me: Oh. Is that an S2?
Him: Yeah, its a 90, they only made them from 89-92.
Me: That's nice. I'll see you later.

I decided against correcting the poor sap, he can live in his ignorance and pad some mechanic's wallet.

I'm just angry.. That was the first time I had to compliment a fellow Porsche owner and the guy is a total moron.

HOLY CRAP! you mean my 944S2 isn't a SIX cylinder!?!?! *@%%$@#$!

Ya know, maybe he got confused: 6 cyl, 16 valve: they're pretty close, and of course, 6 cyls divided by 3 liters = 1 liter per cylinder, so it must be a 6 cylinder!

j/k

considering the first thing he asked you was if your car was a 4cyl.. im guessing he was expecting you to say yes so he could say that he had something other than a 4.. namely a 6.. he probably does have a conversion of sorts.. chill. its amazing but most people who drive older porsches are in one way or another fanatical about something.. perhaps hes into swapping engines now the newer porsche drivers... bleh.. they wouldnt know a 944 if it hit them in the drivers side quarter panel

Nick, seems like I can _never_ think of the real zinger comeback until it's too late in a situation like that.

But your best line might have been, "Oh, so you've had a Chevy engine conversion? Damn, that's a real shame." in a disappointed tone of voice....

But just consider the ignorance of the individual who's the source of your anger, and blow it totally off. He sure ain't worth getting worked up about.... and you'll have plenty of chances to share your Porsche enthusiasm in the future, with more ...'enlightened' individuals.

Jim, "**** on 'im!"

-10 for unit error [cyl/liter = liter/cyl]
-10 for saying 6/3 = 1

What's this about grade school missing from your resume?

I'm certain the guy didn't have any type of conversion done.. from some of the other things he did he just proved himself a real moron.

I met a 944 driver the other day whose car has the older style (pre 1985 1/2) dash design. Yet he believes that his car is a 1987!

lol...maybe a previous owner switched the dash to the older style.... Yeah, right....

I met a 944 owner once before I even had my 924S (I was about to get it). I was admiring his car in the office parking lot and he came out and said it was his. I asked what year and he told me, then preceded to say that the only way to tell the difference in year is the style of blinker.

This was 1997 when I knew little about the details of the '44, but I was still like "huh??"

To each his own.

Yeah man! Things worked out for me alot better than I'd planned and I picked up a _VERY_ nice 87 951.

I'll get more pictures this weekend, but it's in excellent condition.

I was fixin this one tire for a guy I knew and he started talkin about my car. Well, he was sayin how his boss back in the early 80's got him one for his wife. He then ask how many cylenders mine had and I told him 4. Then the guy says his boss' wife had the 6 cylender. I'm like wow...

Just let him think what he wants.

I would've schooled him, but I was in the turning lane and I wouldn't put my 951 through that kind of abuse (aside from the whole danger thing).
