The Haynes isn't too bad for early 944's but it has precious little in the way of updates for the later cars.
For the engine bay paint, couldn't you just spray it black? it goes with everything.

So relying on the wealth of knowledge, here goes.
Best place to buy rims for a 944, and
best/cheapest place to have front seats recovered in leather. I can ship them.

Leather... Classic 9 is one of the best... google them
Not sure on the rims... are you wanting OEM of that era or other aftermarket/OEM for a more modern appearance?

Another .02cents. Prep your garage BEFORE starting the project. Clean it up, make your work area clean and organized. Sort out your tools as well. Its a good motivator to get you working in the garage. Then put in an lcd home theatre system and a nice chair. So you can relax in the garage when your wife gets mad at all the time you spend in the garage, and then banishes you to suffer in the garage/mancave! (not that I know about any of that stuff )

That's funny. Seven years ago, I wanted to buy a 944 and my wife told me if I got her a boob job, she'd help me get the car.
I kept up my end of the bargain and then she divorced me. So I can spend whatever time I want in the garage!!
Already thinking about the garage. Going to buy a heater and upright tool chest to get things organized and cleaned. First thing though, snowblow the 12+ inches of snow!
