it may sound odd but park it for a few hours and see if drying it out fixes it...

dont ask why, i dont know the answer either. ive found that if i wash down the engine bay and then it doesnt start, a few hours later it just will.

Take a can of WD40 and spray all electrical components that operate the engine. Coil, spk wires, etc. Especially anything that generates/transfers spark. WD displaces water and should help

old wiring = old insulation = cracks = water penetration = shorts.

evaporation = no water in cracks = no shorts.

Im also in socal, redlands specifically....My 84 hit a puddle 2 nights ago....stalled out. The D-Cap was bone dry....I found a good bit of water on the ignition coil itself when I pulled the dustcover. I dried the top off, put the cover back on...and she fired right up.

My cars stalled out a couple of times in the past...always from a hard splash on the right side. Im thinking of sealing my dustcap with some silicone....that seems to be the weakspot on mine.

I dont have a snorkel on my airbox so I dont worry about the other side....but if sucking water in is as easy as splash stalling the coil....Im glad I dont have one.

All joking aside, I was actually going to say something as well. Typing like that on the forum, most guys will just close the thread and go on to the next.

The stalling my not be related to the puddle, but more to what created the puddle. On these cars, the battery tray has a tendency to rust out. When it rains water will drip from the hole in the battery tray and run down the wiring harness to the computer.
Pull back the passengers side carpet and remove the plywood computer cover. Check for signs of water.

He's got an 83, early cars have their DME under the drivers side dash....I always wondered why they moved it.
Not my car...just a pic I pulled off the net...
