Is the actual LSD unit in a 968 trans the same as a 944's?

Or will they interchange?

No - the 968 LSD is more similar to the G50 stuff, IIRC.

Thanks, there is a company selling LSD units for 968's on ebay for ~$550, thats why I asked.

Please find the dims on it because the 944 side plates can be removed & machined for larger O.D. taper bearings (which is what needs to be done to stick in an Audi
V8 Torsen differential)

That's a 12-bolt LSD
The 944 boxes are 10-bolt LSD

so here's another question...will an early 944 n/a lsd swap into an 86 951 open diff trans? if so how easy is the job?


edit....just did a little bit of searching...sounds like i'm NOT going to be swapping in the diff, it looks painful!
