Default which sway bar bushing?

I have to change the front centre sway bar bushings on my 91 S2 Cab. I measured the sway bar with a digital calliper and it measured 27 mm which would lead me to believe that I have a 26.8 mm sway bar.

Then I look at the old bushing and the part number seems to be 951.343.794.02 which would be the bushing for a 25.5 mm sway bar.

As you can see in the picture the last digit of the part number is separated from the rest so I am not sure.

Any help is appreciated.

Mark

Did you measure the sway bar diameter?

yes

Does it matter where on the bar it i measured? I measured roughly where the bushing would go.

70mm is 7 cm! Where on the sway did you measure that? Measure right on the thick part of the bar... I would assume if you are just getting around to replacing those that they are the originals, so you probably just need to get a pair of the part number you posted.

Sorry I measured 27mm. Guess I was tired last night.

maybe someone squished a 26.8mm bar into a 25.5mm bushing.

The digit 2 is not part of the part number, it's a manufacturing/moulding reference. The correct bush for your application (26.8mm bar) is 951.343.794.04 and it looks like the last digit has been ground off (?).

Actually looking at the photo on DC Auto's site (which look the same as your's), I reckon they make their own 951.343.794.04's by drilling out the 951.343.794.02 from 25.5 to 26.8 and grind off the "2" directly after the zero. Sound plausible?

Either way, buy 2x 951.343.794.04 from a Porsche dealer for $40 and you're set.

Hope this helps,
Mike

yah I was thinking that the 2 didn't look like the number.

Will go for the 04 part from the dealer tomorrow.

THANKS!

The bushing your are looking for is 951.343.794.04. That is the bushing that fits your 26.8mm sway bar.
