Talking OT - Insane Motorcyclists...

The other day my wife and I were driving in our blazer. I was the passenger. We were on a major road (JTB) here in Jax doing about 65. My wife goes "There's this guy behind us doing wheelies!!". So I turn around and theres a guy on a GSXR just cruising along, doing nothing spectacular.

A couple of minutes later, he pulls alongside, and glances over. I do a wheelie motion, and he nods. I know, I know - I shouldn't encourage such behaviour. He pulls up ahead, and pulls into our lane (we are in the passing lane). He's about 8 car lengths up ahead, and after several minutes I figure he's not going to do anything.

He stands up and sits down a couple of times, and I'm thinking "Is he stretching his legs? Is he going to do a stand up wheelie?". He sits down for a few seconds, then jumps up so he's got both feet on the seat. I'm thinking "WHAT THE HELL IS THIS GUY DOING?".

All of a sudden he does this bounce, then the guy is doing a wheelie while standing on his seat!!! This bike is so upright it looks almost vertical. BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!! Next he takes his right leg, and sticks it up in the air like some kind of motorcycle ballerina. After about 5 seconds of wheelieing like that, he puts the front wheel back down, cuts across a car in the left lane and gets off at the exit.

I've never seen anything like this in my life.

Does anyone know of any sites where I can download movies of guys on motorcycles doing crazy stuff?

I'm itching to buy another one like a CBR929 or a GSXR 750, but I just need to keep reminding myself of the 2 months I spent on crutches thanks to the last motorcycle I owned (Honda Magna 700)...

Do a search for "Bike movie" or somehting like that, a post was here not too long ago of an EXCELLENT bike movie...some good stunts, and some not so good results. Video was done to "Boom Shak-a-lak" by somebody. It will get you in the mood to ride. We always have to see how far we can push it after watching bike videos. Yes, I'm a squid.

The bike scene is huge here in Vegas. Las Vegas Extremes is nuts. Check out their website, be sure to view the videos. http://www.lasvegasextremes.com/

I have been tempted to get a drivers license for a bike, even done a great training week in the military with 250 cc cross bikes that were big and heavy..

After that I realized that it will only be a matter of time before I get myself killed if I get a bike.

The coolest thing I've ever seen was when a guy on a Yamaha R1 passed me while doing a stoppie when I was approaching a traffic light... I drove up beside him att the stop and gave him thumbs up.

That stunt really made my day...

Signal 12 is a stunt group, kinda like LVX, starboys and redline xtreme.

I am on the west side of town... near riverside.

I've got a friend with an R1 and he likes to do wheelies while sitting on the gas tank and also likes to "ski" next to it while going pretty fast. He says,"I know I am going to wreck. I just don't know when." This is probably one of the stupidest things I have ever heard someone say.

I have pulled some pretty mean wheelies on my bike. All it takes is good balance and an easy throttle.

Now.. going 155 on it was not the smartest thing I have ever done. It got a bit light, so to speak. I needed new shorts after that one. Needless to say, I never did it again. I'll save the speed for the 951 on track day.

That's pretty much true for ANY motorcyclist - I don't care how carefull they try to be - if they ride, they're going down at some time.

Reformed squid (I just laugh at these guys - hey, they're doing it for entertainment - might as well laugh), retired racer, current Iron Butt sport tourer - ~120k and counting on 2 wheels...

And THAT is why they call them "Donor Cycles".

Jesus, everyone has a heart attack when someone mentions a street race in his 951 but doing WHEELIES and STANDING ON YOUR SEAT at 65 MPH??? THAT'S OK??? Bikes can do just as much damage in a wreck as a car. I've seen videos of these morons doing 160 or stunting and ending up in the trunk of a Mazda.

No offense to the bike lovers out there who ride with respect for others.

Speaking of 'Donor Cycles' - I about cracked a Phoenix Dr. across the face when he used that, and 'Suicycles' infront of me after I'd been hit by a car. It wasn't the words so much, but the absolute contempt in his voice for motorcycles. I did tell him that if he was the only Dr. available to look at me I'd rather wait till someone 'With education above that of a 6th grade Redneck' was available... Burns me up everytime I think of the situation.

All because some dumb blonde in her husbands MB though it was Okay to REVERSE while at a stoplight (she went right through me, into the van behind me with my body/bike pinned and pushed the van back into whatever car was behind it). I hate Phoenix drivers... *grumbles*

Damnit, now I have to go find some Rennlist humor to kill this sour mood.
