Brian Totally awesome job, couldn't have done it better myself.
Having 'done up' a fire damaged car, I know exactly what you've been through. It's tough to see threads here about cars tossed aside because of body damage, fires, etc., nice to see one come back from the ashes.....
There's one thing I noticed in your 'frontal' shot that's missing though.....

The tow hook thread cover......!

Comes all black but I usually paint the arrows silver.....looks cool...

Good luck on making the alignment appointment
(I have the factory specs if you need 'em) on time and the engine runs flawlessly....

Take care, and errr take a rest
You deserve it......

Good catch BTW.....

I've been following your posts for at least a year now and still remember seeing pics of that engine in your kitchen... Frikin' AMAZING JOB!

Best of luck on the start-up! Fingers will be crossed on the Cape for ya!

Absolutely gorgeous. Seeing those pics makes the time I spend on Rennlist instead of sleeping worth it...for now at least.

Perry i have decided that those are the most bad a$$ rims for the 951. Also I really would like to see your car in Excellence.

I don't think I will be nervous, I just want to hear it sing for a little while.

I have not decided how I am going to break it in yet. I could go the traditional 1500 slow poke miles and 5psi, or I can run it pretty good at 14psi. Since I did not hone the bores, it probably would help seat the rings if I gave it some stick right out of the chute.

What do you all think? Remember, back in '87 when this baby was new, Franz (Or Hans) took it to triple digits on the track before it got loaded onto the boat. I think they still run all Porsche cars up to speed, but not sure if they track them.

I know BMW has a dyno all the X5's run on before they leave.

Though it has been the "Ill-Fated REbuild", are you techincally done with the rebuilding now? So everything should be ok now.

Good Luck, and I'm sticking to my statement that it will be the best 951 around when you fire her up.

The Ill Fated Rebuld name came from a lister many years ago. I cannot remember who it was.. wish I could. Anyway, that started after my 3rd set of valves when my simple top end rebuild was going on.

Since my site is in chapters, I think it is time to split them up into books.

The Ill Fated Rebuild - Where it all started
Everything up to the fire.

Fire to Fame - Bringing back a classic.
The fire and it's rebirth

951 - A Passion
How it is today. (finished) This is going to be a gallery and a whole new site. Mostly media, since there is not much to say about a car that is finished. Videos and professional pics will be on there. If you have seen my vids, you know they are pretty sweet. They'll only get better once I get back to producing them.

Thanks again all.. just wanted to share a smile. It's been a lot of fun.

I am a little curious why you would want to keep a fuel pressure gauge mounted under the hood? You want to be able to see your fuel pressure while boosting? Is it more of a decorative thing?
