Default Gear Oil 75-90w

Hey guys I picked up some gear oil today do change the fluid in my 951 transmission. I just want to make sure this stuff will work alright.

I picked up Royal Purple 75-90w, it has the additive for LSD.

Please let me know, all they had was this, coastco, valvoline, and mobil.. but I've heard good things of RP oil so I thought it would do well.

Don't pour RP in there if look at some of the tranny oil treads peoples are getting rid of RP .I will go with Valvoline 80w90 / Castrol Syntec 75w90.Other choices will be Swepco or Red line.

I don't know anything about the RP but used the Mobil 1 synthetic with no downside.

Sounds good guys, I'll take it back and get valvoline since they don't have Swepco or Redline... Cost me 60 bucks for those 3 bottles lol.

Redline MT if you need to get something local - otherwise go with Swepco.

If you have an LSD what is the best oil? Is valvoline still okay? How does that stuff work in the winter time?

Amsoil synthetic 75W-90 API GL-4. Nice stuff but steep! 60 bone for 3 US quarts.

I might just use the valvoline dino fluid stuff. Its pretty cheap so if it doesn't work well then I will dump that and put in some swepco. I just hope it does okay in the cold weather. My car is a DD. I never had a problem with Mobil 1 in my 924s. It actually fixed the second gear grind, but I later killed the Ring and Pinon. I guess all the drag racing caught up to me.

Is 80w-90 okay? Or should I get 85w-140?

I paid $45 locally for three quarts of Amsoil synthetic API GL-4 http://www.amsoil.com/catalog.aspx?GroupID=213. The Amsoil shifts smooth as silk. I ran Mobile 1 GL-5 for two weeks - it's the wrong oil for our transmissions, really hard shifts when cold.

I see most stuff is GL-5. Now I saw that valvoline is GL-4. It was $21 for 4 quarts. But it was only 80w-90. I didn't know if that was good or not?
