Question Production numbers by color? has this been documented?

Ok, well in my search for a daily driver I stared with VW golfs, but I more and more I was drawn to 944 S2s and 951s. Why? Simply because I know how to work on them and if I turn my current 951 into a track car I'll have lots of interior spares for my daily and if I was ever in a real crunch I could just pull the pieces off which ever car I did not need that week.

Anyway, i've come accross some of the colors you don't see every day: Velvet Red Metalic, and Midnight Blue, Pearl White, Garnet Red, etc, and I was wondering is there any list or documentation of the production of each color by year?

I've seen the 1989 951's broken down this way, but can't seem to find much else. Do I have to go to Porsche NA or AG to figure this one out?

Ide love to have this as well! I know ive only seen two other S2s in my color (originally from factory). One was a picture in the UK and another is for sale in NJ, buts its blue w/blue interior. Probably the only one like that too! No one else ive ever spoken to has seen my color on the cars and never believes its original! (thank goodness for paint codes in the trunk!)
I know there are 510 1991 models. I heard only a handful were done in Cobalt. Theres a few colors that have to be just as rare. Glacier, that green color, etc... Can anyone help out with this?

Here's the only site that I've found that lists the newer 944 color codes. It's the only place I've found my color too. My color wasn't even listed as an option in a 944 book.

Graphite Metallic was only offered in 1985 and 1986 I believe. Hence, only year on 951s was 1986. Its quite a bit darker than Stone Grey Metallic - a color I like a lot too. No idea how many. Cant be many though. Ive seen one other 951, plus a couple 944s in Graphite, not in person though. I think since its only a couple shades from black, nobody bothered getting it and paying a premium when they could get black at no additional cost anyway. I wasnt in a hurry to get my first Porsche so I waited on this color. Took me three years to find it, and out of pure puck, one popped up 12 miles away. I was praying that when I pulled up to the sellers house it wasnt a POS. One requirement was the car needed to have Fuchs which it did. The very dark grey paint works great with the pure black Fuchs.

I also love Garnet with black Fuchs.

I was thinking of selling it if I got a 930, but now Im not so sure.

PCNA is charging almost $100 for a Cardex, I don't think they'll spend the time and break down color/year/model anytime soon. FWIW, we've seen only 5 Speed Yellow 968 cabs total 92-95 so far.

I ordered my '86 n/a new from the dealer with only 2 options......Graphite Metallic paint and cruise control. I waited 5 months for delivery. Car had 25 miles when I picked it up. Today, 293,XXX miles. Paint still looks great for its age.
