oh ya, back to topic. I have rebuilt 2 so if you need any help along the way drop me an email and I will help you out in any way I can. The best advice is just to dig in and remember where every seal goes.

Someone did it a while back. They also did a small write up on it, but I cannot find the post for the life of me.
IIRC, parts were about $35, tools another $125. You needed a special seal press and some tool for a circlip.
This is kinda like tranny work. Cheap parts, not too hard to do, but you gotta have the right tools.

Man..parts AND tools? Jeeez, noone said it was going to be this difficult.
The extent of my tool collection here at school consists of a phillips screwdriver, and a hammer. Im fully equipped to do a speaker swap... and smash the old one.
Where can I sent it to be rebuilt? Price?

You dont need a seal press if you are easy with them. I used sockets and tapped them into place for my 2. There is one seal on the shaft that I had to destroy on both the racks I did to get the old one out (vertical shaft). I used a modified screw driver but you have to be shure not to scratch the wall it is agenst. My first one was about a 2 hour job. 2 done 3 months ago and not a leak in sight. My next one I plan on doing a write up with pictures on how I did it but I am waiting for my seal source to get one seal in stock. That damn zf vertical shaft wiper seal. The one I have left to do is an extra rack anyway so I guess it will just have to wait.
Also I ran into a problem with the allen heads on the hollow line bolts on top trying to strip out. Insted of striping the allen head I drilled 2 holes and made a little spanner wrench to do them. If you have the stuff to do it that is much better than trying to find replacements.
