Default HID's and E Code lenses

Has anyone done a H4 hid kit in a E code lense? I was curious if that worked out at all. Anyone used HID in the fogs of the cars?

Look here http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3094204/8 . I often used them instead of the headlights ,they light up the road pretty good but they're not street legal ,you can blind incoming traffic .

From what I've read, to properly use an HID bulb, it needs an appropriate projector housing. If you do not use a projector housing, you will most definitely blind oncoming drivers.

I'd say that depends on what bulb you go with (6k, 8k, or ... )

something like a stock Mercedes E-class is only like 4300k and that may be fine, most other "stock" kits really only go up to around 5k, that won't be bad even if you use it on a plain headlight, though I don't think that will improve lightning much, but it will make it look better

my A6 had stock projector but not HID's, I had McCulloch HID kit with 8k bulbs at first, when those went, went with 12k bulbs, and I absolutely loved the look, and it lighted the whole street for me ... never had anyone high-beam me

I bought for my driving lights I got K5000 or K6000 and they work really nice with the right housing and everything.

you would need projector headlights like the second set down seen here http://www.9xauto.com/944hdlight.htm . With those you can safely use HID's but i think they would look awful on a 944.

I assume you're already familiar with the differences in actual usable light between 4300K and 12K?

personally, if you are not upgrading the wiring, I would think twice about going with HID's on the 944

need to find a good spot for the ballasts too

also, the difference is the "color", the K has no real effect on how bright the lights themselves are (actually, when I was doing mine, I searched, and I found some people say that HID's after 6k are really not that much brighter, and in some cases offer less light) - but that varied from kit to kit

its a great upgrade, and you WILL love it

I'm sure the wires Rennbay sells will be MORE then enough to run HID's

and if you switch to those "stationary" lights from GT Racing or TexasPerfomance and put projectors in ... you'll really be shining ... but you don't really have to

they only started putting HID's (and projectors) into cars when ... early 90's? so a 944 is 10 years behind just on that part alone

to be safe, I'd upgrade the wiring

Well I havnt had any problems with these lights and the ballast are mounted on the back of my lights. I even have a stereo going with sub and all and the lights are fine. Yes you are rite about the higher the number the less light they offer, they are just for looks.
