ive lost mine before, it sucks. mine was suspended and driving around (class and back) was scary, I prob did it maybe once a week. I would not recommend it. Ive been ticket free for over a year and a half now and plan on keeping it that way!

Laws vary from state to state, country to country. But in Oregon, running from the cops in a car is a Felony punishable by 5 years in prison. That said, depending of the circumstances, it is also very easy.
Here cops will sit on the side of the road running license plates as fast as they can type. The license plate will come back with a flag if the driver who the car is registered to has a suspended/revoked license.

This actually happened to a friend of mine last summer. He's the kind of guy who drives very carefully everywhere, never speeds and had never been pulled over... until that one time on a highway, driving a Volvo V70 2.4T (200hp car), he finally decides to see how the car accelerates: 130km/h, 140km/h, 150km/h ... 190km/h ... Bam! Motorcycle cop busts his ***, license suspended for four weeks or so, and 115 fine (that's all we students get, as we have basically no taxable income).
Good thing the cop didn't have a radar to nail him for that 200km/h speed back then (limit 120 km/h). Instead he got the ticket for average speed of 150 km/h over the past half kilometer (~1/4 mile), so just 30 km/h over the limit (~20 mph)

Can't you fight tickets in Sweden?
Here in the Canadian Socialist Republic, we can fight tickets and USUALLY have them reduced to something easier to swallow. We also have organizations that are X-cops who know who to bribe for reductions. Last summer, I got 2 tickets, 1 for radar detector & 1 for 38km/hr over the limit. They reduced the speeding to save me a point and eliminated the radar detector ticket. I just had to pay the bribe money to the ticket dudes and they do the rest.
Good luck or it will be one long summer.

That's what I was going to ask. Can you fight ticket's in Sweden? I just got three tickets in the last two months. One for reckless driving as I was going 156 mph (more than twice the legal speed limit). I'm lucky I didn't get taken in and the car impounded. Anyway here in Nevada you can fight and get out of tickets with a competent lawyer. I average a ticket a month and you should see my driving record...not a blemish. Check it out where you live. You may get out of it. Here all they care about is pushing money through the system. Contributing to local governments budgets gets you off a lot of things. Sin City...no sh#%t!

<strong>I just need to share my horrible experience this saturday!
For 6 months the 951 has been in the garage. I've worked endless hours with it during this winter. This week I'll recieve my rebuilt/shaved/ported cylinder head. Then put everything back together and enjoy the car the whole nice summer. I've been looking forward to this everyday for 6 months!!
The past 6 months I've travelled mostly by bus and train, but this saturday me and my father went for a ride in his 944 Turbo cabriolet.
I was driving the car and after cruising on a 2-lane motorway a while at around 140 km/h (speed limit 90 km/h) I had free sight in my rear view mirror and took the car up to around 180-200. The next time I looked in the mirror a Police car was right behind me!!!
They took my licence on the spot and now I won't be allowed to drive for 6 month!!! In 6 months its winter time here in Sweden again!!!
The whole summer is ruined <img border="0" alt="[crying]" title="" src="graemlins/crying.gif" /> </strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana,Tahoma,Helvetica">

If you can fight it , do it. Here you fight everything. No matter who saw you do what... it was not you, you didnt do it and your not going to say another word about it until they can prove it.

"Take it to the track." Is the best advice, for speeding!
You knew you were taking a chance, going twice the posted speed limit. I do feel for you, but I encourage you not to take suggestions that could get you into worse trouble.
I also would suggest you talk with the DMV, and see if you can take classes, or any driving courses, to help with your insurance.
I think the suggestions to fight ticket could be helpful, in lowering your sentence of 6 months, and your fine.
Good luck!

In NC, the thing that will get you the highest insurance points (2nd to highest on drivers license, pretty sure) is driving without a license. I would think that most insurance companies would pay, but likely double or triple their rates and/or drop you. I had to pay around $1200/6mos for a while, not fun when you have to pay for it.
