Post H#ĪLL! Driving licence suspended all summer!

I just need to share my horrible experience this saturday!

For 6 months the 951 has been in the garage. I've worked endless hours with it during this winter. This week I'll recieve my rebuilt/shaved/ported cylinder head. Then put everything back together and enjoy the car the whole nice summer. I've been looking forward to this everyday for 6 months!!

The past 6 months I've travelled mostly by bus and train, but this saturday me and my father went for a ride in his 944 Turbo cabriolet.

I was driving the car and after cruising on a 2-lane motorway a while at around 140 km/h (speed limit 90 km/h) I had free sight in my rear view mirror and took the car up to around 180-200. The next time I looked in the mirror a Police car was right behind me!!!

They took my licence on the spot and now I won't be allowed to drive for 6 month!!! In 6 months its winter time here in Sweden again!!!
The whole summer is ruined <img border="0" alt="[crying]" title="" src="graemlins/crying.gif" />

ok i gotta go all summer without getting a ticket! here in MA if you get 3 tickets in one year you get your license taken away....i have 2, and last time got away cuz the cop said "i'll give you a break since you seem like a nice guy and i dont want to take your license away."

no fun this summer.....but i want to start a project on the car, so maybe it works out.

drive anyway... but here (in Ca) the punishment is US$1000 fine, one year license suspension and confiscation of car for 30 days - all for driving on a suspended.

don't drive stupid and don't attract any attention.

thank god i still have one car left (944). yup, it sucks.

Sounds like it would be cheaper to go buy a really good fake ID that fully checks out instead of paying said fine above.

6 months is insane. I though we had really fascist traffic law enforcement going on in here, but that's just nuts!!

Good thing in this is that you were driving your fathers car; now let things cool off a bit, build your own car back into shape and just cruise around in it - they're not going to keep an eye on it (even though I suppose your car gathers quite a bit more attention than an average Volvo wagon or so)...

... and, dare I say it, if you're about to get caught, lose the suckers. It's not like you've got anything to lose

IMHO the Swedish "zero-vision" (isn't that how it's officially called?) that the authorities are trying to implement over here as well is never going to happen, and until those in charge realize that, we all suffer.

good fake ids are hard to get and super risky to use, especially when the registration is different.

Hejssan Gustaf,
sorry hear about that! I suppose here in Finland you could get same kind of suspend if you have 50km/h speeding.Just take a ferry to Finland and drive here. If you get stopped by police they are not able to check if you are suspend or not...

You've always got a lot to loose when you try to run from cops. If you tried that, and got caught (happened to me, apperantly they got the plate #, met me @the house), you'd have MUCH bigger problems to worry about. Ofcourse this is assuming you didn't put anybody in immidiate danger, no accidents, etc. were involved.

Last time I had my license suspended (it was for 12 months), I was ordered by a judge to go to jail for 30 days and an additional two years of suspension if I was so much as pulled over in that year of suspension period. If I were to get caught again in the now +2 year of suspension period, I would have gone to jail for 60 days, and had 3 years of suspension added to however long was left. The third offense would have gotten me 90 days in jail, indefinate suspension.

I drove 2 times in that year, and remember being scared to no end passing by cops. I wouldn't recommend it. I say suck it up and take it to the track. I've been ticket free since that suspension which was my 3rd (and over a year ago).

Wow. I would find a judge that drives a porsche, try to get him or her presiding, and beg for mercy. If i got a ticket after this huge rebuild i just did right before summer, i would probably have to drive anyways. Tough noogies, johnny law.

I can't imagine getting so many tickets & driving so bad that my license would be in jeopardy!
