Does your fuel rail smell like gas?
While poking around my motor, I had my face near the fuel rail and noticed it has a faint raw gas smell. Nothing is wet, and signs of leakage, but I never smelled gas before. (Maybe I just never sniffed that close?) Either way, I'll pull the rail to inspect it before next driving it, but curious if there's any chance this is normal?

Well, I never found a leak or any signs of actual leakage, but I took the fuel lines off and retightened them at the FPR and damper, and the fuel smell seems to have gone away. Will monitor to be sure, but apparently fumes were getting out before I retightened the lines.

Not sure what car you have...
Your fuel hoses going to the fuel rail and having "Crimped" ends may be leaking due to age of rubber deterioating.
Other item is a recall many years ago of a short hose on the rail:

Thanks John. It's an 86 951 (sort of), but I replaced the fuel lines a few years back with high quality replacements from Pauertuning. I think I just got some grit in the threads at the damper last time I had it apart. After taking it apart and cleaning all the connection points, the smell is all gone.
