I've had both cars in question. The del Slow is a fun car but it's not fast and it really doesn't handle that well either. Build a good motor and put it in a 93 hatch and you have a very competitive car. The del Sol is really flexy when the roof it off too. The n/a 944 has more torque, can launch better, and handle better all around. Although, Michael Schumacher in a del Sol could probably whip me in my 951 even on a drag strip. Comes down to the driver.

Threads like this are pointless... If all we cared about was whos car was faster we would probably all be driving fox mustangs and ripping any 944 or 951 apart with a few grand worth of smart upgrades.
Any car can be made some semblance of fast... Some are really easy to upgrade some are harder, but the end of the line is the del sol has nowhere near the potential that a 944 has.

Funny thing this thread came up. I had a guy in one of my auto classes that said the exact same thing your friend is saying. Other parts of the story was that he thought that his car was 1,500lbs because of what the sticker said on the car, and of couse would't believe me when I told him it was more like 2400-2500 lbs. Oh well what are you going to do?

I started the thread to have someone with real life experience to compare the cars for discussion (thanks Joe P). So it looks like they are comparable with modification on a track. I understand we could all buy mustangs that are faster in a straight line, and understood that before I purchased my 944. No regrets!
