I remember reading that the Del Sol's chassis was crippled by the removable roof. Made the car a floppy, flexy little car.

Was this his car?

I told him he'd have to get a hold of one and prove it. Anybody with auto-X or track experience running with a Del Sol? I really could care less about hondas, but thought this was interesting.
not on stock sized tires and wheels. Del Sols like most Hondas come with bicycle tires. However similarly modded (stripped out, light suspension work, proper wheels/tires and stock motor) they are a match on track.

I have raced Del Sols on track and performance difference is more related to driver than car.

You both need to unzip and measure. Everything else is just dancing around the true reason for the argument.

While tifosi has the right idea, I'd imagine that the 160 hp del Sol Si wouldn't exactly be a cakewalk for the 8v na 944.

But really, who cares? Bench racing is boring.

I wouldn't be to sure that my 944 would beat a b16 del sol. They are about 200lbs lighter and have more horsepower.

Really? His mid 90s car will beat your mid 80s car (built on 70s tech)? Sure. it is possible, but who cares? At the end of the day he's driving a freakin del sol! Get him a rainbow sticker and call it a day.

But the Del Sol looks so CUTE at the drag strip... it looks like something that fell out of the trunk of the cop car...

I always assumed that 944s were very flexy too. The big, open hatch and big sunroof create lots of flex area. I've also noticed that if you jack up a corner, you can bind the doors.

That said, my 2009 Infiniti G37 convertible is 25 years newer and MORE flexible than my 944.

I believe the poster who has raced Del Sols on the track. Even with a little extra HP, that can not make up for most likely less torque in racing gears compared to the 944. Also I am sure day to day track use the 944 will hold up for a lot more miles than the DelSol.

Thumbs down Really Guys?

Threads like this are so redundant! Personally, I bought my cars for the overall driving experience, the connection with the road, the perfectly balanced weight distribution, the beauty, and the German engineering sophistication. I guess I've wasted all my time and money though, as I could have had something faster. After all, having more WIN is all that really matters in the real world.

The honda del sol is one of the heaviest hondas, weights around 2500 lbs, the del sol vtec has a b16 engine which is a DOHC, now it also has the b16 tranny which has the shortest gears. BUT its a 1.6 engine. I dont think he'll take a porsche. Hondas tend to spin alot. off the line the 944 will take him. outcorner u??? really??? The 944 can make some pretty nice turns. U got nothing to be scared of. I used to be into hondas alot until my baby got stolen.

I was direct porting 100 shot on a honda crv block and SI head, my best time was 11.02
