Post I wish I could get this car....

I was at my local shop for the Friday afternoon BS session and they have a 1974 911 2.7 Carrera in that cool Lime Green.

droool

Apparently it's for sale. The appx asking price is $10k because it needs some interior attention. Nothing terrible.

It was beautiful. That's my kind of 911....

Careful with that one - unless the engine has been updated/refreshed, those things are known to be good for about 80k miles (at least according to the FAQ's I've read).

That said, my GF wants an early 911 like that. I happend to see one in a beautiful silver with tinted windows that looked Quite nice (the chrome looked to be all there, and in very good condition which really set the thing off). 3~4 years from now when we have moe money and are back from Alaska that's one of the cars that'll be bought/built (along with a Honda powered original Mini, a supercharged 968 and she wants a new 996/997). Best part - she pays!

Cool

I asked about that. All the engine upgrades have been done (head bolts, valve guides, etc). The mechanic, whom I trust competely, spoke with a hint of reverence in his voice. They'v worked this car for years so if he thinks that highly of it, i trust it's worth it...

Heh, what is it with these things? My buddy and I were at my wrench's garge the other day and there was this beautiful dark purple 911 with silver/black Fuchs and good chrome. When we found out the owner was female our first thought was "Is she single?" When we found out she was married, our next thought was "Does she have a daughter?"

God I love old cars.

If it's the lime green I'm thinking of, that is one of my favorite color on older Porsches. I have a picture of a 911S in the color and I see a 914 here in St. Louis with it. I find it just looks good with older cars, though I have yet to see a 944 with it.

Cool

I'll have to take a few pics this week and post them. This car looks great on the outside. It just needs some TLC for the interior.

Enzo,
Where in St. Louis are you? I used to live there as a kid. My Grandma still lives on The Hill off Kingshighway and my dad is down south near Arnold/Fenton.

Someone around here has a 944 that matches his Weird Green New Beetle. It's similar, but not quite Kawasaki. I think that color'd look weird on a modern car...Painted bumpers and all.

Anyone actually see what happens to a 2.7 casing when the studs break and the valve guides go? Lots of leaking oil and the whole case splits in half almost!!! Scary stuff......I wanted a 76 before and it didn't have the updates on it....beautiful yellow on black for only 8,000....shame it had the stock stuff still in it at 90,000 mi.

When I picked up my car a few weeks ago I chatted with a guy who was bringing his RS in for some major service. It was a beautiful car! He even had the personal tag "REAL RS." When I went back there the other day, the entire car was pretty much disassembled. Transmission, engine, and the whole rear suspension/ axle were out.

The kicker? He has a son who refused to learn to drive a stick!!!

Cool. I have a few cousins in St. Charles. Next time you visit your brother, stop by Zia's for me....
