Water pump replacement Day 1

Water pump replacement Day 1
I just finished tearing the front of my engine down to replace the belts and WP. I was real leery about the job at first but once I got the car tore down it was fairly simple. i printed all th eprocedures from clarks garage to aid in any problems I encountered.
After inspecting all of the belts, Idlers,Pump, and seals I was amazed to find what looked like very little wear on any of the parts. When I purchased the car a year ago the PO gave me records for back to 99. The belts and seals were replaced at 129,000 miles. The car has 167,000 on it now. The strange thing is that on one of the receipts it said the water pump was the old style and wasnt replaced. After tearing it down i found that the update kit WAS on the car. The belts didn't show much wear and the Water pump had no play in the bearing. The rollers, tensioners, idlers were in great condition.
I paid 3,000 for this car with 153,000 mi on the odometer and a good interior.
The only thing that worried me was when I got the belt cover off I noticed that the balance shaft belt was loose. I couldn't even use the kriket to measure the tension because it would hit the spring tensioner roller. Isnt that a little too loose? The T-belt was nice and snug though.
No broken water pump bolts or studs but they did show a little rust.
Tommorrow I finish the project and hopefully I Get the belts tightened back Correctly.
Thanx to all who answered many of my questions and assisted me especially Nathan. This has to have been the best $18 I have spent by registering to Rennlist. Too bad I'll miss the autoX event in Warner Robins tommorrow. I'll catch it May 25.

Never mind. I got this crazy earn your degree pop up type thing in my avatar for a moment. whew.
Hey ilikemy944 you wouldn't be the person who won first in the FS class at the last event were you?
Anyways, If we get the car back together by the mid afternoon I'm driving up to check it out.I only live like 30 mins from WR so I wont have a long trip. It starts at noon.
I have some other things I need before I can put my car out there... i.e. new clutch, and cone filter.
