Post Pearl White 951

In 1986, six 951's painted Pearl White with Maroon interior were sent to the US as promotional cars. I have one, and there was one in Tenn. last year. Does anyone have any information on the other 4 vehicles.?
Thanks.

My understanding that the number is six. The paint code on the car is an Audi color. All equipped the same way, leather, and all options. Each car was sent to a dealer in a different part of the country.. I'll post a photo next week.

There was one in Arkansas last year but he sold it. It had 60? original miles, all original except for beautiful Fiske wheels, upgraded shocks and struts. It sold for $16,400 on ebay, some of you may remeber it. Don't know where it went but I know it did go out of state..it was always a great car at all PCA events.

Now that's interesting. One of the first 944's I looked at back in '93 was an '86 or '87 ('87, I think) 944 Turbo in Pearl White. But it had a _white_ leather interior... very head-turning, even if impractical. I didn't follow it up at all because the lot it was on had a bad rep for selling hi-line imports that had been totalled and cheaply & poorly fixed (you'd weep to see the 968 they had later).

The next time I saw it, maybe two years later, it was mechanically & cosmetically pretty well trashed. Story was that they couldn't find a buyer for it. The two partners in the lot split up, one kept it as part of his share of the business, and gave it to his teen-age son to drive.

I'd still love to have a Turbo in that color, but with a black or tan interior. But I've got too many wheel toys already.

Jim, time to shower & go check out a new local watering hole....

Sorry to revive an old thread, but has anybody complied a list of known Pearl White 951's? I owned one of the factory 1986's back in the mid-1990's. I am curious if it is still out there. The last six of the VIN were 157298.

The 86 Pearl White count was started years ago and there were many more than 6, even with burgundy interiors. You can tell the originals by the paint under the hood, it wasn't clearcoated like the exterior and the color has an odd gold tint. There were actually 3 for sale at one time between eBay and Craigslist a few years ago. I'm not trying to burst your bubble but they weren't that rare. I still like them, especially with the color matched Fuchs some had.

Sailracer, deep Purple, And 951Juans car

Another one

That's 3

Hes correct though. There were only 6 true pearl white 944 turbos from the factory. I remember a thread popped up here with one a year or two back, i have a few pics of it. Pearl white with color patched white fuchs. Pretty much every other white 951 was Alpine White.

There was one for sale in Sheboygan about 12 years ago. The owner was asking upwards of $40k for it.

Where is this documented? If somebody ordered a pearl 951, it was an available color.

Hi Jeff,
I am working on a list but have not come across that VIN. Would greatly appreciate it if you could email or post pics and let me know the full VIN. If you had a pic of the option code sticker with the paint code on there that would be really great!

The story of "six factory pearl white cars" has been around since I bought mine. It could be ordered by anyone as it was on the factory option list in 1986, but the cost was astronomincal...something in the ballpark of $3,500 if I remember correctly.

Thanks, that might explain why more than 6 original Pearl Whites kept showing up. I heard that the highest volume dealers were comped with the first 6 with burgandy. These were very popular and the dealers were the ones ordering more copies but not always with the same options. Regardless, it's a beautiful color and compliments the shape of the 944 so well.

FWIW, I bought a pearl white pearlescent Audi A4 in 2000, it was $2,500 extra, and had a 6 month wait, as the factory would wait until they had enough orders and then would shoot all the cars at once.
