Default wiper motor options

hi there

its been a while, 924S is still running strong. just did some nice refurbing of the powersteering pump. have a question about something simple this time though

I have a noisy wiper motor that i took apart and tried refurbing, but its still noisy.

new parts are pricey. are there any other wiper motors that would work, or any other ways of getting nice quiet wipage?

Seems like someone here said PartsAmerica had new ones for $80, hard to beat that (if true). Good idea to find alternatives though, I need one too...Bruce

I got mine from partsamerica. It's a cardone1 unit and has worked great for a couple of years. Partsamerica was the online store for Advance auto parts. They may have it listed on their websight in which they can order it and have it shipped(usually in a day or two) for free. You just drop off your core with them at the parts counter. Autozone may have the same thing. Cardone1 also sells remaned axle shafts for cheap and all of their stuff has a good warrenty.

I bought a used one for $20 from Lart. I know somewhere there is a kitty that died because of that, but hey, kitties cost less than my $60 savings.

With a dremel, patience, electrical cleaner, a little grease and a few minutes you can refinish them yourself long as the plastic gear in the top of the motor isn't ripped to shreds. The noisiest part is the gear in the top. If they aren't regreased in the top portion it'll still whine and be noisy as hell. It also makes friction noise from material stuck in the wheel. As that plastic wears down on the teeth and it runs dry they get noisy. Did you refurbish just the paint part of the motor where the magnets sit? Or the top portion where the gear sits as well?

How do you regrease the motor?

My motor was whining like a banshee, I thought I would just open it, clean / lube it, and reinstall... but I couldn't clearly see how it worked or how to service it so I just replaced it.... and it turns out a 951 wiper motor is different than a 968 one. Oops.
