Post OT: movie National Lampoon's Van Wilder has a 944

i dont know if its in the actuall movie... but today on Comedy Central they were doing a preview for the movie and one of the characters (Hutch) was leaning against the fender of a red 944 with black bra.. pretty sweet! If I see it again I'll try to capture some stills as proof or something

OT, yes. But.. it is cool to see 944s in movies and stuff like that.

Yeah, it's for real. It looks like it might be the equivalant of an Animal house sequal or somthing. I wanted to see it before due to the beautiful sorority content, but now I'm forced to see it due to the car sighting. My roomate just watched exit wounds again last night and there is a silver 944 in that. Kinda funny how I get all worked up over a quick frame flash of a 944.

i've been seeing a lot of quick shots of 944's in the vaguest movies lately -

Only the Strong - there was a black 944 being dismantled at a "chop shop"

Like Father Like Son - there was another black 944 in the background of a parking lot shot

E! - there was a quick shot of a red 944 cabriolet in a clip from 90210...

can you tell i've been watching too much bad television lately?

OK, since we love to discuss details on this board...

I noticed in the photos an external radio antenna on the driver's side near the front hood. Was this ever a standard item from the factory, or was this added for the movie or by a PO? I always thought that the 944s had the "internal" antenna in the front windshield glass.

Also, since the doors have the side moldings, does this mean that the car is model year '87- instead of '86?

The external antenna was standard for the early cars, and molding doesn't really narrow down what year this car could be (but it's probably a safe bet that it's an 84). Porsche made more red 944s that year, than any other...

the later models had "antennas in the glass" and also the moldings, but i'm not sure. the car in the image is probably >85.5 (pre). someone correct me on this (suppose i could look at pet, but i dont feel like it).

Didn't they stop putting cookie cutters on after the early 1985 models?

You guys need to see Beastmaster II. Its a horrible movie except that it has an awesome car chase with a red 944 convertable and the car gets worshipped by natives in the end!

A car chase with a 944?! Badass! Can someone post an mpeg of it so the rest of us don't have to rent/watch Beastmaster II?
