Borg Warner: #274081

If you go in to the parts store and ask for a kit for a porsche 944, they should have them. It is a standard bosch injector, TONS of cars used them. Lol, just don't use the Bosch kit. I use oreillys auto parts, they carry the BW kit. IIRC 2.50 each.

This is the same kit(s) I used...hopefully it works out for him.

What happened to me, happened to this guy too...I oiled my o-rings and ports though.

Default Pintel cap removal

Getting ready to install my injector kits (sourced 2.3 Ford Turbo per reccomendation) on my perfectly functioning injectors. I popped injector pintle cap off a spare injector with a screwdriver last night just to see how aggressively these things hold to the injectors, and was astonished how tight the fit was. Then I read it is not a good idea to pry them off like this. I then thought a hot knife or razor blade heated to melt into the thing may be the way to go. I also saw a recommendation to "crunch" the thing off with a pair of pliers....seems a bit risky to me.

Before I destroy one or more of my functional 951 injectors, I am reaching out to my fellow Rennlisters in search of the safest way to remove these little caps. This is the last critical step left for me to do, before getting my car reassembled and back on the road after some serious preventitive maintenance. I don't want to blow it now, not to mention the potential $$$ I will have to spend to dig out if I frig things up. Just being careful.

All I can say is just be careful careful careful.

Slicing them with a hot razor blade may be a good thing to try. Those pintles are so easy to break off its amazing.

Default Pintle caps - injectors

With that said, do they often break when re=installing the new caps? I have heard putting them in with a socket of the correct size is the way to press tem on. Any thoughts?

I heated the cap up using a hair dryer and gently pryed them off without any issues.
