No. I have lexan in the hatch and it is held down by two rubber latches.

Well, Franky II is about to morph into Franky III. After nine months of trying to work out the bugs associated with forced induction, I have decided to go another route. This time I'm doubling the number of cylinders in the car. I have sold my two 968 engines to fund the build. Say hello to V8 power. The tear down and build begins today!

Will be delivering the 968 engine to the new owner on Saturday. In the meantime, I've been stripping the LS1 to do a rebuild.

Making progress. Engine was refreshed and installed today. Custom headers fit well, they go back to the fabricator tomorrow to finish up (tack welded to check fit). Only problem at this point is the the dual master brake setup is rubbing against the valve cover. Will move it over 1/2" to fix the problem.

Second pic shows the weight of an LS1 engine. Engine had the clutch, headers, cross member, and alternator installed. Total weight 437 lbs.

I did not weigh it prior to selling it But I asked my friend who bought it to weigh it before he installs it. Will post when I find out.

The last month saw very slow progress while I waited for a part to come in (external oil line adapter) and travel for work. The part is finally here and things are moving along.

Clutch is in and working fine. Using the Wilwood 13/16 master was a good idea but I'm going to have to build up some calf muscles for those long races (either that or learn to shift without the clutch!).

I sprayed the headers with a diy ceramic coating the other day and they turned out rather well. I'll drop them in my wife's ceramic kiln tonight to cure.

Replaced the LS1 valley cover with the LS6 to reduce oil loss.

The only things I have left to do are to fashion oil lines and deal with the electrical hookups. Once those are done, it's off to have the exhaust Y-tube built and installed and I'll be done. Hoping to start the car within the next week or two.
