Post I need regular Rennlister's help...

Guys, I need your help. No, this has nothing to do with my overheating Argento (surprise surprise).

I see alot of the same questions asked on this board day in and day out. It doesn't get me mad at all, takes a lot to get me mad. But it does somewhat annoy me when I post something in the morning that is semi-important and by the afternoon it's on page 2 with one reply or something like that. I'm sure you know what I mean.

So, I'm going to compile a list of FAQ's (Frequently Asked Questions) and give them to Mr. John D. to put somewhere on this site so people can get their questions answered. Not that I don't want to help anyone or that you guys don't, but I just think it will streamline the process, not waste bandwidth, and cut down on the times that other questions that pose dynamic answers are pushed to page 2 and beyond into the abyss.

Please just respond with a question that you would think would be a good FAQ, and an answer if you have one. I know you guys know what I mean.

IE.
"Is it worth it to chip a 944 na?"
Or...
"Does someone make a supercharger for my 944?"
Or...
"MAF on a 944?"
Or...
"What tires should I buy for winter driving?"
Or...
"How do I upload pictures?"

And the list goes on and on.

Please take a moment to help streamline the Rennlist message boards.

Thanks,
Matt Olde

Reposting doesn't annoy me b/c I'm sure I'm guilty of it, but here's my list:

1)What tires should I buy?
2)My fan stays on after I turn off the car, or, my fan doesn't come on at all.
3)Will 996 TT wheels fit my 86?
4)How do I bleed my coolent system?
5)Will dexcool work in a 944?
6)Will 6x9's, 5x7's, 4x6's, 8" or 10" speakers fit in the rear?
7) My personal favorite.........How do I get this @#$%# Snapring off? (Not that I've seen a definitive answer on this one)

  • What are my clutch replacement options?
  • Can I stop all this rattling?
  • Where can I find a fuse diagram?
  • Can I update my dash lights?
  • What should my oil pressure be at?
  • Can I supercharge my 944?
  • My clutch is spongy, what's wrong?

"How can I make my NA faster?"
"I have water behind passager seat"
"How do I get an Avatar?"

We could also put all the post that Craig has ever made and put them in a specail spot so we could go their and read them when we are feeling down. To get a good laugh. Just kidding buddy!

"My hatch rattles/squeeks, what do I do?"
"My car's shifting is sloppy...what to do?"
"How do I fix my sunroof?" there's a few good one's out there on this one...just a reference will do...when we get to answering I'll throw it up here...don't have the link handy.

Hmm...can't think of any more at the moment.

This is a good idea though...would like to see it go through. <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" /> <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" /> <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" /> <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" />

Please tell me how this thread was ripe for such a ignorant post as yours? Did I miss something?

For those of you who got your panties in a bunch over this idea (apparently instigator - "my ***** hurts") sit back, relax and quit your complaining.

If you took offense to this post you really need to get thicker skin. I wasn't meaning to offend anyone and if it came across that way, well, too bad. I simply thought there had to be a better way, to streamline Rennlist. I myself am no doubtedly guilty of posting questions that have been posted a thousand times, but I do search the archives. If I didn't, you'd see a lot more posts from me.

(All caps for a reason --&gt ; ) RELAX.

Help if you want but if you don't want to, for once just hold on to your keyboard instead of being a *****.

  • what are good tools to own for everything from fixing my door handle to dropping the engine (ribs' post awhile ago)?
  • how can i change my brakes?
  • my powersteering rack leaks, why and what do i do?
  • "how do i turbocharge my NA?", or better, "reasons not to turbocharge my NA?"
  • what can i do to fix my seat, cracks in my dash, my worn carpet, broken middle tray hinge, etc.
  • tire recommendation and for what applications
  • brief list of resllers for OEM/ performance products, and used parts (who cares if we are promoting them if they're good)
  • general suspension upgrades for the NA
  • why does instigator's ***** hurt, and is this normal for a grow man?
also, it would be nice to find a server to post the entire hayne's manual in pdf (i'll do it if someone can find me a discreet server, preferrably in another country)

a lot of "ideas" for common questions from what i consider the FAQ of all 944 faqs @ <a href="http://www.944-world.com/" target="_blank">http://www.944-world.com/</a> (bill underwood's site).. maybe throw in corrections too like wheel offset stuff (see <a href="http://members.rennlist.org/951_racerx/" target="_blank">danno's</a> site)

Matt- go for it!

I think the questions are real, and should have a forum...after all...its your money, and there is a lot...and I mean A LOT of BS and SNAKE oil being pushed by vendors now days.

I think there should be a forum where the questions could be posted...and the people/comp[anies posting the answers should be held accountable for the answers and be ready to back them with solid proof and "seeing is believing" type stuff.

Just my worthless input.
