Is this early 944 project worth the trouble?

As i mentioned at pelican parts. Those lug nuts have been removed a couple times for the black to wear off. Tires last more then 22k they will be dry rotted but should still be ample tread. Why are you even considering this again?

sounds fishy and not that good of a deal. you can get better. the rear seat back half is from a late car. i believe early cars or at least mine come with a leather pull string to pull down the rear seats not a button like that one. also whats up with that late car ask tray sitting on there haha. and the speaker plate under the glove box?? haha super clean car. but you can get better for cheaper.
good catch on the ashtray though, was the car ever smoked in? might be a replaced tray

If he doesn't have records to prove it, you should assume the miles are not correct (have you verified that the odo is functioning???).
Why the salvage title? As above, not necessarily a deal killer, but definitely a point of negotiation.
Strange about the ash tray and that speaker cover on the kick panel. Also, note that the door speaker are NOT original, and that the door cards have been butchered to accommodate the larger speakers.
Not a bad looking example, altogether, but those cookies are a b**** to refinish because you have to strip the clear coat without damaging the anodizing. Might be less underwhelming if the engine bay weren't so filthy. Why is it so dirty if it's been sitting and unused? Probably parked outside? Can most definitely expect some deferred maintenance issues to crop up given the cosmetic clues...

Car sitting that long will need everything. All belts, rollers, brakes, tires, maybe clutch and assorted engine seals that fail once you get the car running.
That combined with the salvage title and unrealistic asking price makes this a pass...
