Default Missing hose - photo quiz.

Hi,

I seem to be missing a hose, but then i seem to have an extra nozzle.

See the photo. below the distributor i have an extra hose opening. i cant find it on the parts list for the water pump. I'm guessing its for ancillary heating thats for a different model or not used anymore so is blanked off at the mounting.

Any ideas?

The car is an 1985 944 lux, euro model.

Cheers,

Bow

That is a cap that is blocked at what could appear to be an outlet. On a turbo, this would actually be an outlet to supply the turbo cooling pump with coolant. On a non-turbo it is just a blocked off stem. On your car, if this was really open, it would **** out all your coolant.

Roger that!

I'd rather have actual metal there than a plastic plug, but it allows the pump to be used on both a 951 and (at least) a 944S! Means (perhaps) less money to purchase (since it has multiple applications) and greater availability.

Take it to the local Porsche dealer. They'll fix the problem and charge you a couple grand.

cookies all round

I thought that was just extra heat shieldy stuff, not essential electrical insulation for the high voltage cable to the spark plugs.

If essential insulation for the high voltage leads was really that knackered, i doubt i'd get anything.

anyhow, i'll add it to the list.....................

Pete

you'll notice i didnt ask about the 'missing hose' from the top of the cambelt covers i try not to be totally stooopid.

nicest thing is to find out that your car already has updated waterpump

when I got mine from Rennbay it had both types of block off pieces for turbo and n/a cars
