Default Impact sensor (airbag) location on 968

Can anyone tell me where the airbag impact sensors are located on a 94 968? Part # is 928.613.220 02. Accrding to PET there are two but PET doesn't show me where they are.

Thx for help.

Michael

I know in the 944 s2 they are in each of the footwells on the outside wall up high under the dash. They are boxes with a round connector a few inches down the wire from the sensor.

May be different in the 968 but probably not.

btw, someone said something about needing a special tool to get the sensors out. Any clue as to this? What tool do I need?

Yes they are tamper proof screws. Vice grips are your friend here.

The proper tool is a serrated round socket, about the size of a 10 mm 1/4 inch drive socket. Baum Tools sells it for about $20.

Yea I saw that in the 968 factory manuals. But after looking at things I think vise grips will be just fine for getting it out.

I had a hell of a time getting the ones off that hold in the airbag controller when I changed it. Not much room for a vice grip under there so it was like one sixteenth of a turn each time while standing on my head.

Have fun!

you make it sound SO FUN!!! I can't wait to do this.... But more fun was replaceing the cruise brain in the 86 951 as I couldn't get the driver's seat out. so I was upside down and contorted and in a tiny place. On top of it I wear glasses (bifocals) and I had to look out of the tops of the glasses wehre they are designed for distance vision rather than reading or less distance. Yeah... that was BIG FUN also. ;-)

I did my cruise brain with the seat in as well and getting the Frikin tamper proof bolt out of the airbag controller was worse. Not to discourage you or anything
