Post need sugggestions on EGO1 o2 sensor installing

1986 944 turbo:i'm installing a huntley EGO1 O2 4 wire sensor, i put a new stock 3 wire O2 sensor on last year, my delima is this: can i save the stock 02 sensor and its wires so i can resell it? when i install the 4 wire sensor how do i hook up the 4 wires without splicing into the 3 wire stock harness like derrick said to do? basically the EGO1 has 4 wires that are only about 6 inches long and thats it. This means i need to cut into the long stock 3 wire o2 harness and splice 3 O2 wires to 3 then run the 4th wire to the battery for ground. I think this means it will be tough to resell my good 02 sensor as it will then have 3 short wires and no snap/push on connector (near the the firewall)for the second section of stock 02 harness piece, any ideas as to how to hook up this new 02 sensor but keep my stock 02 sensor or does it have to be spliced into it and the rest thrown out and this is what most are doing? P.S. i dont want to solder into the DME box/computer box areas, i prefer to do the wire tapping at or near the 02 sensor hole in the crossover pipe,or near the back of the firewall, thanks for any help <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Unfortunately that $ wire requires you hack up your existing three wire. You might use vampire clips and simply piggy back the wires at the plug location??? This might not look the best, but you can save your old plug and O2 (why, if its bad, you can't sell it anyway ) and keep the other end of the plug intact.

Does this help?

HEY, thats an idea, I might look into making a bolt in 4 wire O2, that EGO1 is a pain the ***, a good alternative would be a nice thing huh?

Take Care!

john im trying to understand what your idea is here, what do you mean by plug location? if you mean bAck by the firewall where the 2 stock 02 sensor harnesses meet then i dont get your post, because if im piggy backing there doesnt that mean my stock o2 sensor is still being used? also do you mean id have to run 3-4 feet of wire for all 4 ego1 wires from the ego1 sensor because the ego1 came with only 6 inches of wire for all 4 wires. please be more detailed as to what you think i should do, thanks i do have vampire clips but not sure what to do with your ideas? also my stock o2 sensor works perfectly and id like to resell it, the reason for the ego1 is that my arm1 red led light goes off when i have my headlights on and i step on the brake pedal as i downshift and am coasting to a stop, derrick said the ego1 has 2 grounds and that the stock sensor makes the arm1 light go out then back on because its not fully grounding or something along these line, also id get a better reading on air/fuel readings and a faster dither, so i got 3 reasons to put this eg01 on, but im still not sure what hacking method you suggested for me, if i have to hack it up i will but wonder what 80-90 percent of modders are doing with this upgrade, please respond your advice is very good and trustworthy

You can allways call us for tech support. The easy method is the following:

Remove yor original sensor unpluging it from the top and unscrewing it from the bottom. Lay the old sensor next to the EGO1 on a table. Cut the old O2 sensor harness a couple of inches from the sensor. Splice the old harness to the pig tale of the EGO1 color to color. When you are done you will have one wire remaining which is Grey. Splice a secton of wire (you provide) long enough to reach the negative termanal of your battery and attach it there. Your all done. Good luck.
