Ok, I know I'm bringing back a post for years ago but I was wondering what all you slammed 944 guys do about the oil sump (oil pan) sitting lower than the cross member?

Is there a way to raise the engine a little or build a custom skid pan to protect it from impacting on bad road surfaces

There's a limit to how far you can raise the engine, but I think you can safely raise it half an inch or so, based on my experience replacing motor mounts recently. Adding some spacers on top of the motor mounts wouldn't be too tough.

Adding a skidplate shouldn't be too hard, either - there are already factory engine trays that you could copy in a thicker material. Mounting points are already there, although they're not really meant to take pavement hits...
