Default Slamming a 944.

Is this an easy task? i want to do a full set of coils,

Theses for the front, with koni 30 series: http://www.paragon-products.com/Prod...R-XDO&CartID=1

and theses in the back: http://www.paragon-products.com/prod...m?1=1&CartID=6

But is there a better way? 800 for the rear set just seems like so much.

Will these even get it pretty low?

What setups are you guys running?

I was kind of joking. I don't know anyone here who "slams" a 944. But you can adjust the rear suspension as low as you want for no cost as long as you are willing to do a lot of labor. Search for "torsion bar adjustment."

The fronts you'll need coilovers to "slam" it.

u can go really low...just don't expect it to ride nicely.

for fronts, coilover (sleeve, high rate spring, better shocks) and extended balljoints
for rear, upgraded tbar and maybe cv joints?
u'll prob need camber plates for fronts.

or...just get airbags

I like how my car rides, and yes I do drive on highway..

I currently have 4-5 inches of ground clearance, but could probably go an inch or 2 lower...

I also like the lowered look, not sure if "slammed" is the correct term for it, but I say sure, its your ride go for it...

when you get into the coil over setups, you can also consider different unsrung height springs (12-10-8) and get an AUTOMATIC drop without touching the hats yet..

Yes I have adjusted the rear t-bars, and have front coil overs...10 inch 300lb springs, and my hats are at the BOTTOM of their travel, my next set will be 8 inch coils...

800 isn't bad in the rear... it is because of where it attaches vs where the pivot point is.... the T-bars affect the pivot point NOT the shock attachment point, coil overs affect the attachment point directly...

Go for it, and good luck... be advised, you will also need a drop link kit, new ball joints, and watch out for fender rub both front and rear, rolling or trimming is an option, but the rear wells will need to be clearanced to get the tire EVEN with the fender lip, tucking the tires inside the fender MAY require radical springs OR tubbing the rear fender wells....

here is my car BEFORE i dropped another inch, which required rolling the fenders, clearancing the rear fender liners, and a few other changes..

Your car looks really good. I was thinking of getting te37 replica's. because i can't shell out 3500 for real ones.

I think i'll do that. Coils in the front, and mess with the torsion bar in the back?

Here's what i'm starting with. to bad there's no such think as performance parts for a NA 944.

TY, she has been a work in progress....

Yup, coil overs in front, tb-adjust the rear, and performance parts can be had, you just have to seek them out..

Consider MSD ignition, coil swap.. Russel Berry at http://www.maxhpkit.com/944NA.htm

he has custom tune chips available for the N/A that will provie some results, but the performance gains on N/A are measured a couple HP at a time, not like on the 951 (easy 50 hp jumps)

You need to refine your definition of "performance." If you limit the definition to power and speed, then you got the wrong car!

This is where a 944 n/a performs:

Thanks guys, i try to keep her clean.

And i know i know. I love everything about the car, i just wish it had a little bit more power. It's like a 2 stroke bike, all the power comes in the top end. haha.

Where can i find out about torsion bar adjustment? i should have enought to get front coils this week. What shocks should i get?

Clarks-garage.com
go to shop manual, there is a write up on spring plate adjustment and torsion bar indexing.
Watch out on going to low in the front, you'll stress the ball joints, which will fail.
You could strengthen them by upgrading to 19mm ball joints and having the spindle machined to match.
Pay attention to the spring rates if you want it to ride decent.
If you deceide to delete the torsion bars, you'll need another few hundered $'s for racers edge shock mounts.
Also put aside $250 or so for a good alignment after you get the ride hieght set.

I would start here for torsion bar info (http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/susp-06.htm). Clark's is a great site for many other things as well. There is a log of good information on this site as well. Good luck, you have a great looking car!

The most popular shocks are Konis and Bilsteins.

And welcome to Rennlist.
