Default Clutch Hydraulics, Any Ideas

If I just rest my foot on my clutch pedal, it will slowly go to the floor without activating the clutch. If I tap the pedal harder it works fine. Don't see any leaks anywhere, it's like the fluid is slipping past the piston in the cylinder. Is there a quick way to tell if it's the clutch master cylinder or the slave ? Both were replaced two years ago.

Have you checked the fluid level in the brake/clutch reservoir? Pull the carpet back from the foot well to check if the clutch master cylinder is leaking down the fire wall under the carpet.

Cheers,
Larry

Bypassing fluid can happen in the master without visible leakage because the fluid pushes back into the brake reservoir. If fluid gets past the seals in the slave it would leak out onto the ground.

I agree........it would be the master. Fluid can bypass the seals and "leak" internally, so no fluid would be lost. I had this with a brake master cylinder.........The pedal would slowly go to the floor when you apply the brakes, but no fluid would ever leak out of the system.

Havn't found any leaks, fluid level in resevoir stays the sam, so I'm guessing Master cylinder.

Thanks, guys

Do yourself a favor and replace them both. Take a good look at the flexible part of the line that goes to the slave. They do go bad occasionally.

No Leaks anywhere, fluid level stays the same. I'm probably replacing both to be on the safe side, but I'm guessing fluid bypassing the piston in the master.
