What a twit behind the wheel.

Honestly I don't know why they chase at all. I'm all for having a sniper nail them as they drive by. I think that would cut down on the number of people running from the police.

Anyways that kind of reminded me of those BMW M5 movies. Anybody ever see those short little clips?

unfortunately i can't download that video from home so i'm watching it on a T1 connection from school. There's no sound but did the M3 get away??? TO be honest, its not really a wise idea for the cops to get into a chase with a european performance car, vice versa for the other person if they don't know how to drive it. <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[nono]" />

Watch it again, they did not get this guy, the scene where they show him "breaking down" is just a replay from earlier in the tape. It was when he switched over sides of the highway....

And I may not be for putting other people in danger, but I do root for the guy to get away. I think cops waste too much time on speeder and not enough time on the real problems that plague a city. For example the other day (toward the end of the month, read quota) I got a speeding ticket for going 70 in a 55, 100 yard before it turned into a 65. When in that same city, Winston-Salem NC, there are part of a city that you dare not go in at any time of the day because there is too much crime. They spend all thier time giving out speeding tickets and giving the underage tickets for drinking (not drinking in driving, just drinking, they have the ALE alchohol law enforcment.)

Ok, I'll get off the soap box now....

I concur Ian, our police force blows goats, and that's all I'm going to say about them.

Oops, so much for accurate reporting. E30 M3s had 192 bhp, not 240, and that 150-mph speed quoted showed some imagination too!

IMO, the cop was really endangering the public by continuing the pursuit...a good time to put the ego aside and simply radio ahead. I know that in the heat of the moment, I'd want to take chase too, but that was just flat-out irresponsible!

Ian I also agree with you on that.

I've never ran into a good cop. There is a fine line between a cop and a criminal.

They are more then happy to pull someone over for having expired tags, but God for bid they actually patrol in the bad neighbor hoods and do their freaking job for once.

I remember living in a college town years ago where the people had to vote yay or nay to give the local cops a pay raise. It was overwhelmingly declined. The only way they could get them a raise was to put that on the same ticket to give the firefighters a raise....which of course people voted for.

HAHA he never got puled over IAN is right... they slowed down the scene and zoomed in where he crosses the median to make it look like the kid was puled over.

Cops are dumb these days. i see it whenever i goto the races, you have 3 cop cars chasing a line of rice rockets, occasionally we get blocked in....i slipped away from 1 block in, the second i actually had a cop car chase me down the 163 south bound freeway and i had to lose him by getting off over here on clairmont mesa blvd. Probably the stupidest thing i've ever done in my life taking a cop to 140 mph on a freeway at 2 am. i'm lucky i'm sitting here writing this and still not in jail luckily i never wear front or rear plates to the races

drive safely out there peeps.

You all seem to be forgetting where a major portion of law enforcement money comes from -- revenue!! The city LOSES money if they catch a wanted criminal and lock him/her up. On the other hand, if they hand out fines for speeding and other minor violations that people just hand over money for...it's pretty obvious why they concentrate where they do. Personally, if I were a cop, I'd LIVE just outside a high scool parking lot.

You are a complete idiot. Not even a partial idiot...complete in all ways.

If you take your plates off that means you know it's wrong and you still do it.

Sounds like the cops were doing their job when they broke up your street races, I am glad the cops hassle you guys for that.

Porsche Owners: This is the kind of behavior that reflects upon all of us and you can thank these idiots when the cops don't cut you a break for speeding a little.

Sheeeesh...

Ditto that...
For the price of a magazine subscription you can join the PCA and do some REAL racing... street racing is for sissies.

As for getting away, here in the land of car chases...

There are some good points on this thread- Ian, Doug, etc- I agree- Raceit- get snipers to "nail them as they drive by"? Damn dude! Cops have EVERYTHING on their side and STILL get that bullsh** little bitch-wanna-be-bad-*** complex going- "I say jump- you ask how high?..." attitude. It's disgusting really- ever notice how all the cop's shows almost NEVER show the "criminals" get away? I would say it's almost tantamount to some sort of brain washing tactics- funny though, the very next show that comes on (here anyway) is a show where ALL of the guy's originally got away or the show wouldn't exist- America's Most Wanted...

I think some people ask for it, some cops are some of the worst people you'll ever meet and some are the BEST, and that the hot-headed attitude of "How dare you run from me- I will get you no matter what" that endanger's EVERYONE on the road for a simple BS ticket is asinine- I ALWAYS route for the criminal in THOSE circumstances- now in the case of some kidnapper, child molester abducter, or violent criminal trying to get away, then I think it's worth a little turmoil- you can't just let guys do crap like that and get away just b/c someone else MIGHT be endangered- but b/c of someone simply driving too fast or something, but refusing to yield, well, let's let the punishment, and the pursuit fit the crime... Now I'm going to watch the video- assuming I can download it by the end of the evening- damn dial-up...

Ah hell- I'm not 100% sure what Eurospec REALLY means, but there's not a person here who hasn't wished they could outrun the fastest cops in the world (assuming they have been blue lighted to begin with) or rooted for Nicholas Cage in "Gone In 60 Seconds" etc- Personally, I always liked the movie "No Man's Land" w/Charlie Sheen where he say's (while looking at a Ferrari or something) "Italian trash- besides, I only steal Porsche's." Yes, I rooted for him to get away in the end, and through the whole movie, but in reality, I think the idea of stealing someone's car is DISGUSTING! I've had my car broken into (an old Acura) and it's a shi**y feeling. Also, I DO agree that street racing in your Porsche is something that you should keep to a minimum- I've done it before, and really opened up a few times, but I TRY (VERY HARD too) to ONLY do such inconsiderate things when NO other traffic can be endangered, and w/good visibility, etc- it does irritate me that I could STILL get thrown in jail for doing so- if a cop saw me- I know "take it to the track"- but sometimes it's just too tempting, and the conditions warrant it as- not so dangerous for other's.

What about organized street races? I don't know- I've never been to one of the really big ones like "Fast and the Furious" or something, but have seen footage of some that really seemed fairly sane- outrageous for their sheer speed and aggressiveness, but safe for normal traffic in that streets were actually roped off w/people watching all different directions, etc- not sure how they REALLY are though, as I've never been...

Anyway, I'm not saying it's okay to have COMPLETE and TOTAL disregard for the law, but I have to ask- how many of you have radar detectors? Those are machines SPECIFICALLY created to help you break the law- think about it...
