Default 89 S2, dead cylinder, sell as is??

My 89 S2 has a dead cylinder, any ideas how much one is worth needing work?
Here is a link to the pics. https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-...2-finally.html

I think it has 156k miles. I have owned it for a year and have been driving it daily for 6 or 7 months. AC compressor is off and pwr steering pump needs attachment hardware. Car ran and drove great. had new timing belt 3k miles ago and new tensioner pads, new sunroof gears

I know it will need the head pulled, and I don't have the tool to retension the belt, so the cost would add up quick for me to do it.
Any thoughts on how much it is worth as it sits?

Thanks,
Shawn

The only thing I have done is a compression test, so I don't know if it is top or bottom end. I have thought of parting it, but that seems like a pain. I would really like to sell as is and cut my losses. ANy idea of its value?
Car is located in Arkansas.
Thanks,
Shawn

You should be able to get a diagnosis without much effort/cost. WIthout that, a buyer would have to assume that the motor is junk. If that's the case, the buyer would have to assume a rebuild or replacement motor and factor that in. Assuming a decent S2 is worth $10K, and the engine rebuild/replace runs $5,000, it would be worth $5,000. Of course without a running engine the buyer will not be able to confirm that anything else works, so you might be discounting further.

The car runs, just very poorly. I drove it home, about 3 miles, after it started missing.

I would be happy with $3500. I tried to bring all maintenance issue up on the car, but this was unforseable. Doing the work myself, I think I could fix it for $1000 or maybe much less depending on the problem, but I am not interested in working on it.

Is $3500 out of line?

It might be something as small as a bad fuel injector, or a loose connection. Have you tried to diagnose it at all? Otherwise, the buyers are going to exploit the fact that it doesn't run correctly as the others have stated.

$3,500 might get someone to bite.

+1 you really should do some proper diagnostics before you write the engine off. What was the compression readings you got for all 4 pots ? Unless you've got a hole in the piston or a burnt valve it should still run fine even with worn rings or bore

If you want to unload it - I can be at your place the weekend of 4/24 with a trailer and $2000 cash.

You should be able to get your asking price. I just want to get the first bid in.
