Default REAR SPEAKERS

i want to put in larger rear speakers in my 1984 944
i was thinking 5.5 or 6.5 inches.

I was told that you can cut the metal and shape it larger is this true?

Yes, but it all depends on what speaker you are using. These components required mounting depth that the stock location could not accommodate.



If you get a fairly shallow 6.5, you could fit it behind the stock panel.

LINK see post 64... some fabrication on the 10-speaker setup... but you have some room to play with on the rears...fronts, not so much.

yeah id like the stock side panels still.
and do you have any pics of how you installed the speakers?

this is what my porsche looks like with the removed panel,

how can i fit a 5.5" or 6" speaker in there cleanly
i want to have larger speakers with better bass.

Cut and fabricate...

Mine had the cutout for the larger speakers and had the infamous adapter plates.... but essentially it has a cutout... let me see if I can find a pic before speaker removal/replacement... standby.

Did it this way when I had 83-944 save lot of hassle & sounded good (in rear wheels wells) they are still going strong just a sugestion .
