Default All DME Relay's the same?

So I need a DME Relay. I'm assuming I can use one off of any 944 and obviously a 924S. I don't know about a early 924 though. I see a bunch on eBay. Do I need a specific year?

Can't help you with the exact answer, but the spare DME I keep in the glove compartment has a 993 part number (I have a 968) so it could be that your car will accept DMEs from a number of different Porsches. If you don't get a definite answer on Rennlist, I'd call up a Porsche shop and ask

you've got a problem with your DME relay ,one of the most critical parts of the Bosche fuel injection system and you're thinking of buying a used one on ebay ??????

Whats wrong with ordering a new part from your Porsche dealership for $20 ?

There's several different DMEs for these cars.

'83 thru '85 944
'85.5 thru '87 944 ('87 924S)
'88 944 ('88 924S)
Not sure about '89 and later...

Just had a search at the Paragon Products (no affiliation) web page, here's the list of Porsches that use the same DME relay:

911 89-98 (964/993), 911 Turbo 93-99 (964/993), 924S, 944 all, 968

soooooooorry I thought you meant used .

I suppose the advantage of buying from Porsche is at least you can be certain of getting the right relay I guess.

To be certain about using substitutes you need to see a schematic of the internal layout of the relays and check the orientation of the spade connectors and the internal connections Its a bit risky tbh

Maybe it would be a good idea to post a sticky of the parts throughout the Porsche range which are compatable with the 944 and also Mercs and BMW parts that will fit etc
