My airbag controller's part number end with 00 and not 01. Does this mean I should be able to reset it with the grounding procedure at Clark's?

In the USA only the 1991 S2 has the 968-style system that requires the Hammer to reset.

That's what I thought, but my US spec 1990 S2 cab required the dealer reset as well.

I made a home made switch as per Clark's and the FSM but there was no plug back there. Only the circular socket with a screw on cap for the dealer tool.

They did mine free of charge. Then again I'm a regular customer at the parts counter.

Definitely some of the 90 cars had the new airbag controller. I know because I purchased my replacement from a parted out 90 s2 cab.

If the part number is .00 you have the old so I would guess that Clark's should work.

If you don't turn the ignition over with the airbag off there is no need to reset the airbag light. I have successfully reset the light on a couple different 944s. It can be a little confusing to follow the procedure and the timing has to be exact. Assuming you didn't leave the airbag disconnected or something like that you should be able to reset it. There is a small difference between the procedure on Clarks Garage for a test rig or two jumpers - try it both ways. I think it has to do with the last step of waiting 5 seconds before turning off the ignition. Remember the timing has to be exact!

After all of this...and doing the diagnostic procedure... when I took off the airbag I saw I did not clip it properly and it was sitting there disconnected. I reconnected it, did the reset procedure and the light turn off.

Thanks to everyone
