Default Has anyone fitted rear split seats into a non-split seat 944?

Hi,

I'm trying to renovate my car's interior and, yep, I got suckered into buying some rear split seats. They were the right color, in really good condition, and the helpful seller reassured me that he'd previously put them in his 924. He gave me the plastic center hinge and told me that I'd see how to bolt it down when I got the seats out.

Yeah, right!

OK.. so I got my old seats out and then realised that I can't just magically bolt this hinge down. Then I had a look through the archives here and found that it isn't so easy after all.

Has anyone actually done this kind of swap? Any ideas how I might acheive it?

I'm wondering if I might be able to fabricate something to weld on top of the seat floor, rather than having to drill through it.

Here's my floor:

It looks like I need this:

See those little studs on the split seat chassis. If you can do that, you can do it.

PS.. apologies for not having a fantasically clean floor like the second picture! I only just got the seats out - on a side note, what's best for removing all that glue and stuff?

Yeah, that's it. I can see it being possible. I think I might need some help from a friend or two but it could be done. I'm just wondering if there might be an alternative, less destructive approach. It's starting to look like a lot of work to go to, for only a small amount of reward. I think I might even have to pull the fuel tank out.

Still, these rear seats I have were exactly what I was looking for in terms of colour, material and condition...

Does anyone have any photographs of the split section, showing the lower part of the rear seats in detail? I think maybe there should be a cover or something to hide the mechanism?

Chris.
