i couldn't tell you how bad the recent renegade stuff is because i don't think anybody's buying it. The old stuff is really bad though...bellhousings have been made out of spec. Needle bearing pilot's have ruined the end of torque tubes. Oil pans have leaked. Crossmember spacers have created lots of bump-steer which has gone unchecked until recent mods by forum members.

Honestly, the stuff that people like greg sloan (944hybrids.com) and texas performance concepts have come out with over the last year is of considerably better quality than anything renegade has ever done...their tolerances are much better, their engineering is precise, and the quality of their production is unmatched.

Hey Ethan,

Thanks Man...
Let me correct your link, Sir: http://www.944v8s.com/index.html
Is that disk CHHHHHaaaattterrring yet?
Easy on it - it will come apart...

Clutches are cr@p. SPEC makes one of the best, if not THE best 944 LS Conversion Clutch setups available, using a custom center hub duplicated from the 944S disk.

RH has made no changes / upgrades / improvements or even new development to, for, or with parts that had known issues for years. If you want to protect something badly enough, make it the best it can be, price it reasonably, offer some form of support after the sale, and instead of trying to get what you're protecting so desperately, the people will buy what you're selling based on trust and affordability.

Then maybe these same customers won't have the desire to stab you in the neck for raping them in a dark alley in Vegas, baby.

odurandina, it's worse than you thought, man.

he's been around for a loooong time...he was a huge contributor to porsche hybrids board before it got beating and neglected by renegade...he has since moved on to his own site and is on a mission to screw renegade (like most of us who witnessed firsthand what renegade did to PHB)

thanks for catching me on that link greg!! it's late and i'm confused and tired. have a good night!

Ethan,
I'll work it up tonight.

5+ years of digging around, many knowledgeable connections, and the RH inspired (or inflicted) resolve to open up the 944 V8 Conversion,
rather than shroud it in so much non-existent legality and hypocrisy.

I have built 7 websites, a forum, published a Manual and put together a 944 V8 Conversion Kit
(actually 2 Kits - the SBC / LT1 Kit is back, only through 944v8s) since June, 2009.

Yeah, I have been busy...

"Yeah, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of Vegas, I shall fear no Renegade.
For I bring the 944 V8 to the people, for the people, by the people.
So help me, DJ Mann.

Amen."

Crazy man...totally crazy...Can't believe that picture of Dougs951 and myself is still up! I forgot it existed! It's sad Sloan turned deadbeat...he had some pretty good ideas there for a while.

they are bigger, heavier, and more finicky about maintenance and electrical stuff than a 944.
i like the 928 a lot but not enough to swap the 944 for one.

Default What do i need for V8 conversion?

928 = highway cruiser, GT car, comfortable and powerful. Lots of automatics.

944 = agile handling, more "in your face" if you want it to be, driver's car. Not very many automatics.
