Tony G. listed the weights over each wheel on his new LS6 engine. (just an LS1 variant). getting that link up.
https://rennlist.com/forums/944-turb...s6-engine.html
of course, we are talking about a car that's been stripped down for track use.
i don't mind the idea of adding some weight over the front axle.
a car would still handle good after changing to a 235~255 mm front tire. and maybe have less understeer than stock.

I stuck on 225 TTII's up front with 300lb springs. Had to slightly mod the hub to get the wheels on. I can only feel the weight shift on slow speed hard turns anyways. The extra weight over the front axle fixes the "buck" that I felt on the LS alloy powered 948 I test drove almost 2 years ago. This set-up sticks and I want to build my own coilovers next when I go higher HP (LS6 heads are next)

948 still gets squirrely with the ironblock and 11" rear tires.....

As the title states NA tranny assault LOL.
The NA 1st gear is only good for drive-thrus and I abuse the thing daily. I did design my own trans mount and from the other 948 swappers I believe this has saved my CV's from exploding.
65-110 is amazing, that's why I've named my ride "Holeshot".....
This vid is about 60-110 on a holeshot pass as I was getting on the freeway from an entering ramp....

DVC,
if we go LS2/3, which accessory package works best for our cars on the Gen IV engines? (i have a 968)
what package are you using?
here are all the different Gen IV configurations.
1st and 2nd photos are Gen IV Pontiac GTO and 2008 G8.
3rd photo is Gen IV Corvette LS9...
4th photo is Gen IV Corvette LS3
5th photo is Gen IV 2010 Camaro LS3
6th photo is Gen IV 2010 truck 5.3
i also asked Tom in Alabama (968ls1) what package he's running on his LS2 968.
od.

My car makes an exceptional quantity of heat. i'm just using the
big TPC radiator and medium sized oil cooler. No AC.
I should think about changing to a larger oil cooler,
but it's perfectly placed within the duct of my 997 style nose.
Most swaps are still delivering tons of fun and performance
to the original owners, or long after they change hands.
i'm at 5 years, 47k miles w/ monster engine barely broken in.
i've run into 2 V8 swapped cars at random on my journeys across USA:
(a spectacular Renegade 944 at a truck stop just north of Evansville, IN,
and a Mike Gokey car on the A1A in Hillsboro, Florida)
It's kind of amazing.

The #1 question I get is regarding weight. I took the LS6 out for a freshen up, and had both engines side by side, complete from the bell housing forward. Here are the results:
LS6 complete is 487lbs
2.5L NA complete is 445lbs.
Fits like a glove!
The LS is 42lbs heavier than the NA 2.5. The car weights 1230kgs, with 55% on the rear. Being an early car helps here, as does the battery moved to the rear, and removal of all AC and sound deadener.
It has a 951 transaxle, S2 brakes and a BMW HB. Koni's, bigger springs and TB, and bigger sway bars. Quite simple actually. It's amazing to drive and well mannered on the track.
Hope this helps, another data point!
Love it!
Gord.

The weight of the LS I believe but I find the NA engine number surprising.
A bare 944 long block isn't much over 200 lbs (going off memory of component weights added together). Add 40 lbs for BH+clutch, 20 lbs for intake mani + airbox + AFM, 30 lbs for exhaust mani and 50 lbs for ???? and it's mid-300s.
Are those Canadian pounds?
