I was going to make a dumb joke, but its idle, not idol (sorry). There are a few things that I have run across that cause this. When you say the idle is rough, is it inconsistant as in jumping all over the place and stuff, or does it just feel like the steering wheel and whole car are shaking?

If it is incosistant, you may have either a vacuum line/coupling/fitting that blew off, cracked, or was otherwise damaged, you may have dirty fuel injectors, a failing fuel pressure regulator, or a failed throttle position switch. All of these will cause incorrect fueling and a rough inconsistant idle.

If the idle is just rough and the whole car is shaking (esp. the steering wheel) without a lot of bouncing around of the revs, you probably just have collapsed motor mounts. Be more specific as to the symptoms. HTH,

Many things can cause this.Check out for vacuum leaks.Might also be dirty injectors, bad fuel pressure regulator/fuel pressure dampner, bad throttle position sensor or failing idle stabilizier.

Mine has this problem, It was hitting on 3/4 cyl. It turns out that the injector driver in my DME has gotten intermitant. At least thats what the Mechanic said...

A quick check is the intake boot. Once, mine had managed to work itself into a position where the edge of the boot was not creating an airtight connection w/ the throttle body (was "tucked in") and my idle was terrible. The boot had no cracks, and I drove myself crazy trying to find out what was going on

What was the cause of the down time? I usually go for the obvious. If the wires wre removed by a gorilla mechanic I start there. Plugs? When I bought my car, the vibration was caused by the upper balance shaft being off a cog.

Might be the motor mounts.
If the height of the motor mount is less than 62mm installed than it's failed.

Good luck,

yeah i know it is idle. i had a pounding headache that day and i couldnt think straight. well heres the thing i had the chain break and a few valves bent. got that all fixed and then i brought it to the mechanic to get timed. finally he got that done and i personally have not heard it. all the guy will me is what i told you. well it has been tree weeks now and they still have not figured it out. you see my car is not a priority anymore rather they work on it on there time. so i think i just want to get my car and figure it out myself. i too thought it might be vacuum line.
