Post How much do you think my fuchs are worth?

I have some 16x7 and 16x8 fuchs that came with my car and have been sitting in my dad's garage for a year or so collecting dust. I was considering refinishing them (either fully polishing or polishing the lips and painting the centers) and selling them since I plan to get big reds in the future and wouldn't be able to use them. None of them have curb rash or anything...there are a couple of small scratches that I believe would come out when I polished them. They are perfectly straight as well. If they were refinished, they would look 100%.

How much $$$ do you think I could get for them refinished? TIA,

Wheel enhancement offered me 1400 for the Fuchs on trade in. I decided against doing anything with mine because if you ever wanted to replace them it would cost a fortune.

They can have my Fuchs when they pry them from my cold dead car! They are on there now and they are staying on!

Exclamation

86 951 Fuchs are fairly rare and sought after. Due to the offset and the fact they only made them for 1.5 years. I had a hell of a time tracking some down when I was looking for some for auto-X wheels.

I called Ian at Ian's Europarts and he said dismantlers were getting $400 each for the rears, $300-$350 for the fronts. That's in decent condition, maybe needing refinishing but straight.

Keep that in mind if you decide to unload them, you can get good $ for them.

Wow, I had no idea that these wheels were that desirable. Check out these from my car:

At $1500 to replace them, that makes the wheels account for 20% of the purchase price of my car!!!

I got my Fuchs a year and a half ago and at the time I kept hearing that I should expect to pay "$150/6" width, $175/7", $300/8" and $400/9". I also found that 911 and 951 offsets didn't really matter as far as price is concerned because 8" 911 wheels are just as rare as 951 wheels (most 911s had 6" & 7"), and for some reason that I haven't figured out, 15" and 16" seem to go for the same price. This was all for used wheels in decent condition.

If I were you, I'd be calling Wheel Enhancements.

Don't laugh, I heard somewhere that the dealer price is almost $1000 a wheel for new ones (are they still available) and insurance companies are require to pay for new ones! Add good tires and you're at $4500, totalled in NJ is 80% of value so a car worth $5625...That's a mid-range NA!

I bought my 951 hoping to find one with Fuchs wheels and am glad i did. When these wheels are properly finished or polished they look SO good. I wish Porsche made these in 17s. Of course, i can only imagine how expensive they would be.

FYI, at Hershey this year, a guy was there displaying some very nice 17" 3 piece "Fuchs." He cut the rim off 16's and wholla, the start of a 17" 3 piecer. Offset and with were your choice. They were top notch in quality.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll check a couple places and see if any of the wheel places or dismantlers will give me decent $$$ for them. I'll probably just end up running an ad around here or something (I hate e-bay) though. I still have to get the old tires off of the rims and re-finish them. I was thinking of polishing them then clear coating them...will this work? I have access to an array of polishing and grinding air tools...I just need to know what I should use to do this. If anybody would be interested in them, drop me a line ( richietommy@hotmail.com ), refinished or not.

About the 17" fuchs...there are a couple of places to get them...lindsey racing has them between $570 and $610/each depending on width, and HRE makes them for between $690 and $935, too.
The lindsey wheel:

Err ahh...make that "Offset and width." Didn't want you unattached folks to get your hopes up thinking you could order a 42 mm offset and "with" a very attractive lady.

Oh yeah...here are a couple of pictures of my car when it used to have the fuchs on it. They are faded and dull, but could be brought back to brilliance with a little elbow grease:

When I get the tires off the wheels I'll post a couple pictures before and after I try cleaning them up.

Ribs -cool! i've been to Lindsey's site a few times but never looked at wheels there. Down the road a bit i can see a set of those Lindsey wheels in 17x8/9s. Those would absolutely look fabulous!!
