Post Lifters

Well due to the utter incompetence of Krynock, ( my x mech who did a crap rebuild) I need to replace the lifters in my engine. SO, the whole head comes off etc etc...the belts are all going to be retensioned, oil change, etc...
Is $39.00 each a good price for lifters? Should I do any performace mods to the head while it is out? WHat mods if so and how much do they cost and how long does it take to have work done?
Im about to drop another 1200 intot he car and want to make sure I get it all done right the second time....eveil Porsche mechanics can make a Porsche owning experince VERY BAD!!!!
I love my S, she kicks ***, she is fast, she is mean, and I love her but SHE IS EXPENSIVE!!!!!!

If I had a hammer...and Krynock's skull...oh the joyous thoughts I am having....... <img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" /> <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" />

$39 sounds reasonable. I paid about $50 for mine.

944GASM,
You do not need to take the head off to get at the lifters, Just the cam housing.

Now you may need to remove the head for other reasons, but it is not for the lifters only.

I replaced two lifters and all 8 valve stem seals with just the cam housing off. The head stayed on.

I have pics if you want

and get em cheap!!!
I am bummed that I am dropping another grand intot he motor, I could have the fastest turbo in the world by now with all the dough I got into this car....terrible. But I still love her, my little 944$....
I am going to have to get her painted soon, she is turning shades on me..that I HOPE will be the next big money item for this car...please hold out tranny please!!!

When the tranny goes I am going to try to get ahold of a 6 speed with LSD for her. I figure most of the upgrade and parts I am putting intot his car could be pulled and put ona turbo if I ever total it..so its not too much waste..lol
Im rambling....
There truely is no substitute....

I just noticed that the $35 is for the 16valve head. Us 8v guys gotta spend $56... At least we have 1/2 as many valves

Are you sure you need to get the head off to get to the lifters? My pervious statement was for the 8v, but I am not sure you need to do that for 16v either. You might want to check on this.
