FS: 968 Front/Rear Sway bars (non M030) SOLD
Just upgraded to M030 sways on my 94 968 and thought someone may have a need for the slightly smaller ones.
$75 + shipping for both front/rear. You can have the old bushings but I would replace them with new. No brackets as I needed them.

I believe the M404 option was for the 25.5 mm front bar on Turbos (944 343 706 04) because stock turbo front bars were 24 mm bars (944 343 706 02) and the M030 option was the 26.8 mm front bar on the Turbo S cars(944 343 706 05) matched up to an 18 mm rear bar. Curious note, the rear sway bar started as an 18 mm bar and was downsized to 16 mm after a year or so. The 30 mm front bar (944 343 706 30) is the only Porsche OEM bar that is larger than the 26.8 mm bar, aka the M030 turbo setup.

24's were on the 86T only. 87+ Turbos (non S/M030) came stock with the 25.5mm front bar. Fairly sure the 24s were a solid bar, so likely they are a similar stiffness as the later tubular 25.5 bar.
The 404 option was the Turbo swaybar upgrade for the 944 N/A and S.
The rear bar was changed from 18 to 16mm early in the 89T model year production run, sometime late summer of 88, july - aug timeframe. Somewhere between US VINs 150 and 500.

Actually the only thing I'm not sure about is the M404 option. I have theM404 option listed for the Lux model with sway bar number 944 343 706 00. It is also listed for the turbo car under the sway bar configuration 944 343 706 04. I need to research this further...

Depends on what model year.
The 25.5 front was not available until 87+, so that bar was not an available upgrade option until 87. Earlier N/A cars w/ the 404 swaybar option would have had the 21.5 or 23mm bar, depending on year.
The 25.5 bar was standard equipment on the stock 87+ Turbos. May technically have been considered a "standard option" - regardless, all of them had it.

Well, if that is what they said they are incorrect because Oddjob and I are right. The original turbo M030 option was 26.8mm front/18mm rear. In 1989, the rear bar was reduced in size to 16mm as stated above. Later, with the development of the 968 and 968 turbo, a very rare beast, the M030 option was transformed to 30mm front/19mm rear where it remained til the end of the run.
