Post Ok guys, what's the trick to getting the fuel injectors back in??????????????????????

I am on the verge of being pissed, and I am a very happy dude.

But these dang injectors WILL NOT go back in. I put new seals on them. I got them in the engine, after about breaking my thumb. Then I try to put the fuel rail on and can't get them for the life of me. So I take them out (frustrated) and put them in the fuel rail first (which also sucked), then try to install the fuel rail and NO SUCH LUCK.

You guys, I've been a Rennlister for over a year, I think I should be in the loop. How the friggin crap do you get these things back in????????

On the verge,
Matt

I don't know the "official" way, but I used a little silicone grease on the new o-rings, placing the injectors in the rail first, and then using the rail to gently force the injectors down into the manifold. Good luck, and grease um up !

I just lined em up and the tightened down the bolts Don't do it too unevenly though...don't want to break anything.

I was told by an informed souce (I can't think of who at the moment) to used ATF fluid. I put a light coat of fluid on the 0-rings and they just popped right in.

The fuel electric guy who did my injectors told me that vaseline has a Mack part number.

any lubricant will do, use just a small amount. If you try to force them, you may and most probably will...pinch and tear them. Been there, done that.

I had a lot of trouble getting my injectors out and back in, too. I used a little bit of vasoline to lube the o-rings when I put them in. I installed all of the injectors onto the manifold first, then I tried pressing the fuel rail down onto all of the injectors with no luck. I actually crawled up the wall of my workspace backwards and put all 180 pounds of my body weight down onto the injectors with no effect either. Then I thought there has to be an easier way...

I ended up pushing the fuel rail down onto the farthest back injector first (just 1 injector would pop into the bung, but not all 4 at once) and installing the retainer clip which actually popped the injector into place...after that, I just kept pushing the fuel rail down on the injectors one at a time and installing the clips and they went in fine. Hope that helps,

I put mine in the fuel rail, lubed the o rings and popped them in no trouble at all, just applied pressure from back to front.
