Nice looking car but that is top dollar for any NA (normally aspirated). You should be able to find a nice example for significantly less. Year is mostly a matter of preference with the NA's although parts get more expensive for the lower production numbers of the later cars.

As to "best years" there really is not a significant difference in reliability between all the years. Now that they're ALL old, it really comes down to how well they were cared for. Later cars have more wheel options and a more modern dashboard. But that's it.

There are two interiors, so you may want to check both before buying... you may find you like one better than the other.
With an 85.1 and older, and just two owners, it's entirely possible that original owner rolled the 5-digit odometer over and the second owner did not disclose to the dealer. Carfax and other similar services wouldn't catch such discrepancies in a state that does not do emissions or require mileage reporting at registration renewal.
Exterior, the 85.5 and up have flush-mounted windshields with an integrated radio antenna (earlier had inset windshields with fender mounted antenna). the 87 on up have the late offset, so a wider choice of wheels. The 89 has an odd 2.7L engine, only in production for one year, so a replacement head will be pricey
