the plastic ones aren't bad, they fit the late cars better than the early car just due to shape. the carpet is cheap and tacky IMO, the plastic ones you can't really tell they're there.

I had a dash cover on my car when I bought it. I took the cover off thinking that the dash couldn't be that bad I was wrong it was so cracked and had silicone all over it...so I ordered one from 944 online. It looked pretty good but couldn't stand it. I found a nice original dash with one tiny crack by one of the vents. Wasn't too bad to replace. Took about 6 hours. I still have the cover I bought if anyone is interested.

iit takes about an hour or so the first time you remove your dash (85.5+). i bought some good heavy leather looking vinyl from a fabric shop, it was about $20 per linear yard, I think I bought 2 yards and it ws enough for 3 dashes. I also got some 1/4" thick cloth covered foam at the same shop and put a layer down first the the vinyl on top. i used contact cement to glue the edges as I stretched and smoothed the vinyl.. I was happy how it turned out. not as good as a pro, but no one notices it either.

I am curently recovering my dash with a marine grade vinyl that I got from a fabric place, I took the old cracked vinyl off and am sanding the dash smooth, and will fill the cracks, (still doing research of filling) but I will try to post something when its all done!

Classic 9 leather makes a really nice replacement leather cover. I'm going to be installing the one I got for Christmas soon.
