Default Both....Expensive Crap

******a lightbulb just went on. is the renegade stuff CRAP - or just damn expensive ?*****

After doing alot of research and reading up on the burnt pilot bearings from the RH kits, I decided to design and machine my own adapter plate for the Corvette Bellhousing.. I checked 4 different C-5 Torque tubes 2 Autos and 2 manuals....to get the correct 944 TT shaft to Chevy Pilot center dimension that is absolutely CRITICAL. In doing so, I pissed in someones Wheaties because they were called out and felt infringed on by my design......Last time I checked, I still live in America. If you feel like you can do something better for 1/4 the price....well you get the point....

My plates are easily spotted...

******xschop, can you confirm if the 4.8 vortec will work with all your parts?*****

What's cool about the Corvette C5 Bellhousing and Billet adapter plate is that it will fit ANY chevy V8. The only difference is that the pilot bearing adapter is 0.6" thick on Early SBC and LT1/4 engines, the LS and ironbloc 4.8/5.3/6.0 engines take a 1.00" thick pilot adapter because the crank journal ends are shorter by 0.4"
Greg Sloan wrote a swap manual and every detail to the swap is in there...it is a must to have. I bought one and I wish I had it before the journey....

awesome photos... the implication is that the benefit of the preventative maintenance on my 968 engine is marginal... maybe i should do a belt kit and H20 pump kit then one more belt kit 45k miles later and no more... or just sell the engine outright.

if your 968 engine is still in good shape, putting out good compression and power numbers at that age, you could sell it for a good chunk of the v8 cost.

am i to understand that where we car going with all this is that we can do a swap for much less $$$ ? can we start a new thread called "Lsx swaps on a budget" and list sources ?
Overpriced more than anything - They have had no competition (until now).

This will get you to the info...
http://944hybrids.forumotion.com/forum.htm

And the Manual...and the parts site.
Free, and cheap, in that particular order.

Sad thing is I am an old Renegade customer as much as I am ashamed to admit that. I took the short cut, so I thought and bought their 100% deluxe kit. BAD move. Funny thing is if they would have treated their customers right they would have made $30 - $50k off me by now on the conversions I have done.

A hybrids board started around 5 or so years ago because of their BS, life was good until they decided to buy it, to control content. BAD move for them. Now it’s dead like Michael Jackson. Car people, let alone car builders, will not tolerate their chodeness.

They have a very long history of abusing their customers after getting paid in full. My disgust for them is well known. Almost every part of my original kit has failed. One leading to a high RPM clutch explosion. And this was their wammy jammy super deluxe Kevlar racing disk.

There have always been other people doing in house turn-key conversions. Or people like myself that can make their own parts or have them made. It is nice to see some guys come along with the right attitude and put together not only some parts as a kit but make them open source enough someone has to buy nothing from them. Great job. As I said earlier in the thread the conversion manual has my personal seal of approval, and yes I actually bought one.

“We” are comforted by the fact that the newest owner, not the original, of Renegade has a career to fall back on. http://www.mcdjscottm.com/

Nice Rick...
The DJ site.

"Rollin', in my 5-point-O

If half their propaganda were the truth, Scott would be able to sell all his vinyl.

The 944 V8 Conversion is becoming what it should have always been...
Legitimate. Renegade's "victims" are the reason the info is being posted freely.

i know, good luck getting that much $$$ for it, but the engine still looks good... better examples (ls2, ls3) come along every week or two, but they go fast... notice how that one says "make offer"... he's not going to get that much for it... i saw the deal of the year on a stock ls2 a few months ago and i am an *** for not buying it. makes me sick. it had 14 k miles on it and it went for $2,900 with EVERYTHING. out of a grand prix.

i am really leaning towards selling this engine, etc. and spend the money for the engine i want. it will just require that i wait an extra 2 or 3 months to be driving the finished product. it will be a goodwrench crate ls2, and it will get the heads done at [total engine airflow] in ohio, a cam, and the [fast] intake. with harness and accessories, it will come in around $9 k.

Thank you, sir.
My knowledge is shadowed by your experience.

As for everyone else, my intentions are stated clearly in the manual...I am only making the information readily obtainable. I have included machine-ready drawings in the manual, and the parts site is there for the individuals that wish to leave fabrication headaches to someone else. This ain't "rocket surgery"...

Nor is it a DJ booth.

No, the stock LS pickup can be modified to sit ~.50" off the bottom of the Moroso 20140 sump. Saves $92 (Moroso ) or at the least, $72 (Milodon). NOTE: January 2010 Revisions (.pdf) will include a change in block set-back plates.

CPR, Remix?
Hardly...We add a new scratch to their vinyl daily.

Thank God.

Does this mean I can drop the car off for an install in SC?
